What Ohio State earned in the CFP is split with its conference members, so it's not a break-even proposition based ONLY on the $20 million payout. That said, they are one of the top 10 universities in the country for living alumni so the well is pretty deep when it comes to paying for a roster no matter what the team or conference brings in.

after bumps in ticket sales as defending champs, bigger donations, better ad revenue, CFP money, and merch sales, I'd say it's gotta be a net positive financially.
