Déjà vu as to audio

Many, many moons ago had a Carver Premiere AV-705x (125wX5) amp pulling my gear.
To me it sounded great. Using 4 of the channels with Bob's famous "power steering" worked well bi-amping to stereo worked well.
Then it died. I hooked in a used amp I had never used from my closet -> a Carver 505 which was about 80 watts to each channel.
The 505 was a million times better as I guess the 705 was no longer at peak. The 505 was so much clearer and musical, I was ashamed I had said the 705 sounded good.

Jump forward to present day --
Today on the porch I replaced my Sunfire 400X5 with a Sunfire 300X2.
The 400 had sounded very good to me, but this 300 is much, much better. Not only is it more musically clear, the power is much higher as related to my volume controls.

The 400 should have been putting 1600 watts to each speaker. I guess it was not nearly doing that.
The 300 is rated at 600 to each speakers and might blow the speakers with full volume. I doubt these speakers would blow, but you get the picture.

The difference is night and day. Nothing was changed in the system, just one amp slipped in where the other had been. This is not to say the 400 series is not equal or better, just that my 400 is in need of repair.
The difference is amazing!

Nice! I'm driving my system with the very last NAD Class AB amplifier....C275BEE. A true 150 watts/channel, with dynamic power up to 600 watts/channel.

Excellent those (like my Sunfire) are no longer on the market new.
I never buy new. My "new" amp is 30 years old.

That NAD is a true "power amp".

Most are misled as to watts as all watts are not the same. Your amp will pull hard.

Do all folks need things like this - no/yes/maybe.
My speakers require power to "open up". Buying them and not a power amp would be silly.
