Not as spectacular as “The Catch” by Dwight Clark but a lot of similarities in the play design and where it happened on the field. Plus it was against the 49’s!

I remember Davis Allen not getting much love by NFL GMs because of lack of speed. They seemed to ignore his great hands and brutally effective blocking acumen.

Yet, here he is. Already a few successful years as a NFL TE. I recall faster TEs that were so ballyhoo’ed in college, but who didn’t block, getting drafted more highly but not lasting because … they didn’t block.

Gooooo Davis Allen!
