Daughter update

Some of you have asked about my daughter so hear is a little update. This might be a little long so TIA

Long story short we were out on Lake Wateree Saturday enjoying the day as we do most weekends. This wasn’t most weekends. My 3 year old daughter had a seizure while we were out on the water. Luckily her mother my wife is Superwoman and knew exactly what to do because my daughter has had one of these before. This was my first time experiencing this with her because I was at work the last time it happened. Very scary situation and something I never want to see again.

Apparently these seizures are called febrile seizures. Which is just a quick spike in body temp. The seizure is just like a reset as the Dr described it because the body just can’t handle that quick spike. Doc said it was pretty common in kids 6 months to 5 years. Mostly think it’s from something viral. No clue yet what that is. All of the test they have ran so far are normal.
With all that being said she is doing a little better. Has been a little sick the last 2 days. She’s got some antibiotics so hopefully that helps whatever it is.

Thank you everyone that asked about her and prayed for her. Will keep you posted with any updates.

As she has had more than one, you need to see a specialist (if you haven’t already). I went through this with my daughter. Yes, they are very frightening. My daughter’s started at age 7. She was declared seizure free around the age of 12. Unfortunately they returned when she was 15 and had to resume meds. After the stress of college, she again weaned off meds, and is now 28 and seizure free.
If you are in the Upstate, Augusto Morales in Greenville Pediatric Neurology is fantastic.

So glad your daughter is ok. I can't imagine how frightening that experience had to be. Continued prayers.

This is in no way meant to be disrespectful or negative, but have you tried cannabis or some form? I've read about some parents who created a strain with little to zero THC content for their child who suffered multiple seizures sometimes daily. The article said it has improved their quality of life tremendously.

My son had one and they pretty much said the same thing as what you described. He is now 13 and that was the only time he had one at age 4

Prayers for her and your family

I never saw either time but it always happened when hot. One time after being at a theme park and the other at daycare while playing outside.
He also had complex motor stereotypy, which is a flapping twitch which happens when stimulated. The doctor said they were likely related.
They both went away and he got older, so take solice.

My daughter also had this when she was around 3. It happened twice, once playing overheated at daycare and another with an ice cream headache. We took her in for CT scans and everything was normal. She is 12 now and never had another one. Hope this helps.

Man I can't how that felt to you...I have seen my Cocker Spaniel
have seizures and it upset me but a child, I would be very upset
to see something like that. God bless your child and I pray she will
be ok. You also have a great wife so you are blessed. I love children
and don't like to see them in distress.

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. The last time this happened hand foot and mouth followed so it appears a sickness is on its way.

They are scary for sure, but fairly common and I don’t think any long-term effects.

Our middle kid had a couple when he spiked a fever…he was under 5 or 6 both times IIRC. Again, pretty scary, but he was fine. He’s 23 now. Hang in there.

I had one of these seizures when I was about four. My mother said my grandmother had bundled me up in too many clothes and I overheated at Sunday school. Been over fifty years since and never had another one. Prayers for your daughter!

Good to learn your daughter is better. My oldest daughter had one at about 18 months when a low grade fever suddenly spiked. That was scary enough, but went to another level when her eyes rolled back. Got to the hospital very quickly and they got the temp under control. Thankfully has never had another. We always became very anxious when she had a couple other low fevers. She's now 38 and was diagnosed first of June with ulcerative colitis. Felt decent enough to return to work today as an X-ray tech after more than three weeks away. Now waiting to see what the next round of meds will be. Will pray your daughter is finished with seizures.

Again I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and prayers! This is why I love being apart of the Clemons family!

She’s doing better still has some bouts with vomiting. Unfortunately all the test that have been run are all good. Doc believe it could be just the stomach flu or food poisoning. Still monitoring her. Thankfully she hasn’t had another one in the last couple of days.
