Could we have gone further with Shipley this year?

Watching Ship return well and make that big hit that led to a fumble and eventual TD got me to wondering if we would have made a bigger run in the playoffs had he stayed another year.

I don’t know for sure but I think we might not have dropped a couple of games (Louisville and SC) and started the playoffs with a bye.

What do you think?

Healthy Mafah is better than healthy Shipley, unfortunately we had a hurt mafah for half of the season.

Healthy Mafah may be better bt the tackles but by no means is he better as an overall player.

No. Offense wasn't really our problem as you know. I'm actually kinda glad it happened the way it did. Say we'd have gotten the bye? Who knows what the seeding would have been.

But if it had, I doubt any of our systemic D problems would have been addressed.

We have much to prove next year in all phases.
Of course we could have used RB help this year with Mafah’s injury and the coaches insistence on playing him hurt.
I’m thrilled with our DC hire and see better days ahead…hopefully an improving defense will help our offense in tough games against sec teams and others
