So, I walked out of the stadium after Sunday's game, and I went to the dugout to see how the ladies reacted to the big win. There seemed to be good camaraderie all around. Kylie Johnson was unhappy with her play over the weekend, and she looked to be a bit annoyed.
Rittman said that this year is like starting over, and he's right, except there's no Cagle, Clark, etc. (yet). The true freshmen and sophomores look promising. There are a few freshmen who will be fighting for a starting position. I'm impressed with Macey Cintron. She looked good at the plate and on the mound.
No one knows what's up with Maddie Moore. However, I overheard her exclaiming (quite loudly) as they were packing up their gear, "I'm free!". I took that to mean either she's suspended for the first tournament, or she's getting over an injury, but that's just speculation and hope.
I won't rehash what I saw over the weekend. @DougKingsmoreCrusade does a fantastic job in his post below.
I would think that Maddie may have been serving some disciplinary related issue. She played in the Orange and Purple scrimmage, and appeared to be fine. I agree with your points. I do think that it will be a work in progress, but they have some talented young players. You mentioned Cintron, she is going to be a really good 2 way player. Collins impresses me at the plate and in the field. She moves very smoothly at SS, and swings the bat well. Pitching was a concern coming into the year. You don't lose your number 1 and 2 pitchers, really 3 with Reagan Spencer exhausting eligibility and not have some setbacks. Saying that, I thought the pitching staff done a pretty good job. As the year goes on, I think you will see Cintron getting more time in the circle, and hopefully Duncan will continue to develop into the pitcher she can be. They'll grow!
