Chris Denson to beat out Christopher Vizzina?

I heard the Rukus about him, so I watched some of his HS highlights. I am not shocked this kid flew under the radar, Plant City HS has not put a player into the NFL since 1978, and last the kid they sent to a college was in 2018 to a DIII program.
Anyway, the kid did not receive a lot of quality coaching, he is playing backyard football right now. But he is very accurate with the deep ball, and has eyes in the back of his head. He is sneaky good. If this kid develops under Riley, watch out, because he would be the full package and I would nto be shocked to see home start in '26. He will need to hit the weights for sure, been then again I watched 6 minutes of highlights and the kid was never touched once.

I don’t know if he will beat out vizzina but I would not be shocked with his raw talent that he could be our starter after vizzina that could beat out tait Reynolds

I think Denson will because of 2 reasons
First because CV hasn’t developed much at Clemson it seems. I don’t know, he could be maybe have a “Chase Brice” type of career at Clemson. And have some important game where he subbed in because of injury.
Second, I do think Denson has more to him.

Yeah, I think he is a better fit if he can get this offense under his belt. It also took a while for Cade to develop, so we will see, but he is a gifted runner and would give DC's headaches moving the chains with his legs.

Vizzina redshirted in 2023 and threw a total of 34 passes in 2024

I don’t think we’ve seen enough of him to say he hasn’t developed. It looks to me like he has. He looked good in the spring game, and according to the staff he’s the clear #2. He has made huge strides and pushed Cade.
We’ve seen Denson for what, 5-10 plays? In a scrimmage? One scrimmage?

Talented guy for sure it would appear. We will see what happens in the next two seasons as Tait or somebody else could also make an impact when the time comes.

CV looked pretty good to me in the spring game. By all reports CV has made a huge jump in the off season so I’m not sure what you are seeing/hearing but Denson isn’t starting over CV.

CV is still here bc he WILL be the starter when Cade leaves. This staff believes in CV. CV said it himself, his 1st year here was made up of mostly mental reps. CV needed to develop. He knew it, the coaches knew and anyone that saw him knew it. We won't really know until he steps on the field in 2026 as the man. The good thing about CV, he doesn't know any other college system but Riley's. If , and that is an enormous IF, CV gets beat out by TR or CD it'll be bc the talent is more than any of us thought. I hope one of them can beat CV out bc if it happens we found a stud. I don't think it will but who really knows.

I think Denson redshirts this season then likely backs up CV next season and is in line to be the starter in 27. Of course if Tait Reynolds blows up then all bets are off about 2027.

Vizzina this spring, so my opinion is based entirely on what coaches and TNET experts have said.
As such, there's quite a buzz about Denson, as he has impressed both coaches and fans, so it sounds like the potential is there. If spring games were a reliable indicator of things to come, Will Proctor would have been the greatest QB in Clemson history. My guess is that Denson has some exceptional skills, however, and is a very different kind of athlete than Proctor.
As for Vizzina, I think he's solid, with the potential to be really good. His maturity and familiarity with the offense has got to count for something. If he continues to progress (as it sounds like he has), I'd feel good about it if he takes over next year.
It's really a good "problem" to have, but it's getting harder and harder to keep two top-tier QBs on the roster anymore.

IDK, when a true freshman comes in with a couple of months under his belt, and appears ready for the moment. Is he as talented as Watson, or Lawrence, no. But he seems to have "it:, whatever that is. Anyway, the dude had unbelievable pocket awareness. At the least, he can come in as a change-of-pace QB who gives an unprepared defense fits, and later forces DCs to prepare for both. Like you said, a good problem to have.

You said it: did not receive a lot of quality coaching. He's a project guy. Has a ton to work on from a mechanics and footwork standpoint. However, he gets that down, look out. May have found another mid-three star gem.
