It was ok for a good ole boy like me with a 4x4 pickup. Freddie must have been one of those BMWs and Nissan Leafs left on the side of the road in Roswell!

done much...there were millions of people immediately on the roads headed home around the same time....the weather was forecasted to hit further south than it did....then you add in wrecks blocking roads and it turns into a mess very quickly. I drove back from Nashville last night and a trip that normally takes 3 1/2 hours took around eight. It was a slow go but made it home safe.

the Mayor has no control over what the schools decide to do. In spite of his appeals to do otherwise, the schools decided to open yesterday which proved to be a huge mistake.

People in the upstate laughed when Greenville County Schools dedided to close at noon yesterday which was some three hours before the snow was even supposed to start falling.

Based on what happened in Atlanta yesterday, the guy who made that call now looks like a genius. The last thing you want are busses on ice and snow covered roads and it would have been falling right at dismissal time.

But didn't he release city workers at about the same time as the schools were dismissed and added to the congestion. Nothing like the usual 5:00 traffic and school traffic combining earlier in the day.

But if you are going to let kids out early, someone has to be there to get them.

but the weather forecast for Northern Atlanta was way off. Even up until 8am they were just saying 0.5 inches and basically just a light snow from about noon-4. But it got here earlier and harder. I think I would have made the same decision on schools which was to let out 2:30 hours earlier.

The problem was all of the businesses and local governments made the same decision at the same time and flooded the roads. Once you had the bottlenecks, the school busses couldn't make it up the hills because they couldn't make a consistent speed. In our areas, most bus routes are only about 15 minutes long and yet they were stuck in the same traffic and then caused traffic problems when they couldn't move.

You don't realize it until it snows, but Atlanta has a ton of tree covered hilly roads.
