Cat update. Heard a ruckus on the screen porch, turned on the light and walked

out there. Dipchit, the stray we took in a few months ago, was doing battle with a bigass possum who was trying to eat his food. Dipchit was standing up on his back legs and throwing lefts and rights that would make Sugar Ray proud. The possum was making some strange hissing noises, it was weird. He took off after I came out.

We've been wondering what was happening to his food. Neither I nor my son are here a lot of times, and have one of those feeders you can load up. No way he was eating all that. Now we know. I've been meaning to get a new pellet rifle and this settles it. I'm going tomorrow.

Proud of Dipchit for his defense of the home turf. He's family now, we got his back.

Good for dipchit. Dipchit knew since he was a stray he couldn’t bow down to anyone just showing up on his new turf. It was obvious to him he had to step up and prove his worth around the new home front. Maybe in dipchits past circumstances he walked away and wasn’t the leader he was expected to be. But this time he knew deep down he had to rise up and be the warrior that his past ancestors were and had finally become that man. Stay strong dipchit.

You may recall it was the top non-football story at the time here on the TigerNets. I thought Patches had died (most likely killed by a TNet member who is a big fan of either the American Revolution or the Philadelphia professional basketball team) - but this gives me hope that Patches may still be alive.

And Dipchit sounds like a little bad assss. Ive enjoyed the stories and look forward to more.

came home today. Not sure if they're mice or baby squirrels or what, hard to tell when they're half eaten. I have to pick em up with a paper towel and sling em into the back of the yard before they start stinking.

Our cat used to bring snakes home. Sadly she didn't enjoy a long life.

screened in porch. We came home late, about midnight and I went out to feed him. We kept a plastic cup in the trash can full of dog food and I reached through the revolving type door on the top(it was pitch black dark) and felt for the cup. I immediately felt something WARM AND FUZZY! Jerked my hand back and thought ,"WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT"?.....Cut the porch light on and looked inside....baby possum was in the trash can sound asleep......Lucky it wasn't a grown'un......

Did the possum have a 13 wood imprint on both sides of his head?

Possums are harmless creatures. They're also practically immune to rabies, so you'll never have to worry about that when dealing with them. Unless I have a rodent problem, I'd rather have possums around than outdoor cats. Possums mostly eat bugs and carrion. Cats are a menace, especially to bird populations. We have cats, but they stay inside. Indoor cats live longer, and our house is plenty big enough for them to not feel cooped up.
