Seeing Plyler’s list from 2013 got me to thinking about our best OL of the Dabo era. The two absolute locks for the list are Hyatt and John Simpson. Crowder, Pollard, and Blake Miller are probably locks as well. With that being said I think the frosh B.Jacobs will be a first round pick in 3 or 4 years and our most decorated OL since Bostic if Luke stays that long

Not a strong list.

Off the top of my head from guys I think are Dabo era and based on college play. 1-Hyatt 2- Simpson 3- Hairston 4-Carman 5-McFadden

I'm sure I've left off a few names that should be there, but I just can't think of many high end offensive line we've had. Shatley probably had the most successful NFL career but I don't remember him dominating in college.

#1 has to be Hyatt..

regardless of his poor transition to the next level..rarely do you see a 4 year starter at LT + I can't recall a period or game where he was badly exposed by the high end superior athletes he faced in the CFP on multiple occasions from the DE position-

By OL position (when playing for us at the OL position in question… no NFL considerations):

Hyatt - tackle
J.McFadden - tackle
Dalton Freeman - center
Simpson - guard
Crowder - guard

IMO, Traymayne Anchrum was a better OT than Jackson Carman. Neither were better than McFadden.

While I thought Shatley was good, primarily by virtue of not seeing D-linemen pouring through his blocks, I wasn’t attentive enough (I.e., not knowledgeable enough) to recognize the finer points of what Shatley brought to OG after switching over from DT.

Gage Cerevenka, in my amateur opinion, was better because he was flashier. Cerevenka mauled his opponent when he locked up with the DL or LB opponent. In hindsight, I must not have paid enough attention to poor blocks which didn’t necessarily lead to sacks or QB pressures or causing our RN to redirect his route because Cerevenka did not execute his block well enough.

Looking back, we’ve had pretty good success with Guards and Tackles. Not great, but pretty good. Center has long been a weak spot for us.
