Our FSC game really has nothing to do with it. This is about the SEC adding more games.
I think Ray Tanner was for the rivalry. Haven't seen anything from the new AD they hired from TCU and where he stands. Big 12 country has a history of dropping instate rivalry games when they are in different conferences.Look at what happened with UT-aTm when aTm joined the SEC. Now we see Oklahoma and OKST has dropped theirs.

I really don't like playing the coots even though we own them throughout history. It separates family and friends and causes anger between people. We have members in our church who won't attend the day after the game because of who lost. I realize that is their problem but this is what this games causes. I'm fine with doing away with it.

The money we lose be losing a home game like Furman , Troy etc is too much to do away with those game. I would rather lose a Home and away game first.

The SEC had no problem ending our 100+ year consecutive season rivalry game streak with SCar during the Covid season though we both had opportunities to fit it in. Just sets the stage to phase it out permanently ahead if they expand past 8 conference games, and they are most assuredly going to expand past 8 as the $$$ gained will justify it. Throw in a cross-league arrangement there with the B1G and there simply won't be room for us on their schedule if they want to maintain 7 home games, and there's no way they would willingly give up that 7th home game.

I would rather rotate a home and home with UGA or Notre Dame.
There's nothing fun about going to Columbia and Williams-Brice. Doing Chicago/ND every other year or doing Athens every other year are much more enjoyable road trips.
I'm just not a fan of Columbia.

Been going to Clemson football games since the 60's, season ticket holder, been to all 3 Nattys and graduated from Clemson. I could care less if we never played the coots again.

I doubt we would end with an FCS game. A new thanksgiving ACC rivalry could be good. Maybe playing FSU every year or UNC on that game. The worst part about change is fear of it. We don't need to thump Carolina every year to feel good about our team.
That said, I highly doubt it will change, but it has happened before. Texas and Texas A&M was the big Texas Rivaly that ended in 2011. Oklahoma vs Nebraska was a huge rivalry that ended and now they only play each other by happen stance. Kansas and Missouri were each others big rivalry game played every year from 1891 to 2012 and ended when Missouri moved to the SEC in 2012. Pitt vs PennState is another.
So it happens. I am confident we would come up with another rivalry game to play every year if things change.
