Anybody understand teenagers these days?

My 14 year old just came home from hanging out at his friends house. He was in a T-Shirt and shorts. No biggie except that when it's 95 degrees outside, he's always wearing a hoodie and jogging pants. Are we in bizzaro world now?

A question that has been repeated by parents for generation after generation.

He's just different! ;)

Actually, he's a good young man. I do question his attire sometimes. Asong as he is decent and acts like he has some sense, I let it go.

As a juvenile probation and parole officer, you’re asking the million dollar question!! It’s like this age of teenagers are from a different planet!

Maybe he catches the cold when he dresses like that when the weather is cool, so he needs to wear sweats when it is hot out due to the chills from being sick?

Love him with all your might unconditionally. Train him as best you can. Set the example but don’t push him away. Be present and venerable letting him know you are doing your best but you are not perfect.

I have three teenagers, one has a closet full of nice clothes, but dresses like he’s homeless when he goes out, I have another who is invited to parties all the time , but would rather stay in his room with a headset on and play games with people in India. and another Who’s an absolute music savant, but can’t put a lid back on a jar without instruction. Kids are very different these days

My parents were role models as most were in the day.
We emulated them.

Young and dumb. I pretty sure we’ve all been there. Keep teaching, keep preaching and keep loving. You may think they are not listening but they are. They put in the back of their brain but you will reap your reward typically when they are in there 20’s and all you did will be revealed. God bless the children.

The one thing that differs in the past 15 ? Years? THE PHONE. We had one phone growing up. My big sister got one in her room but it didn’t work well-my Dad probably had something to do with it.
My kids went to church, made professions of faith - did Awanas - we prayed as a family - but I way underestimated the crap that came into our home via Chromebook and phone. Don’t discount this if you have kids - I didn’t monitor closely enough and didn’t use filters. Huge regret.
