According to reports from the combine, Fairley, who is listed as 6'5" and 300 lbs, is actually 6'3" and 280 lbs. That's probably good news for Bowers, although I would hate to see him have to play for a joke of a team like the Panthers.

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

Wouldn't it be easier to trade the spot to someone needing a DT, and demand a QB for the trade?

Or trade down and get a QB with a lower pic?

Surely there are some teams with need at DT, right. Carolina needs a 'face' of their program type player and Fairley is a risky choice for that... imo. Dirty player at the college level.

Trade down or Trade the #1 pick from this year and take that team's 2nd round and 4th round pick this year and then their 1st round pick next year. You build through the draft. Keep Clausen this year and see what happens. Luck will come out next year and if you have 2 first round picks then you have leverage if by chance we actually win some games and don't have the 1st pick in next years draft.

To me, Peppers was a phenom when we picked him. I Honestly don't think Bowers or Fairley (talent alone not position) are that level of talent. I've been wrong before and my orange colored glasses tell me Bowers is a world beater. But when I take them off I'm not so sure.

Agreed, I want to see as much success as possible for Bowers, but not completely sold with only one year of solid stats. W/out luck no sure bets out there and the Panthers need help at a lot of posisitons so I would trade for more picks or trade w/ the Eagles for Kolb, the best second string QB around.

You have to make the trade now because you won't be able to after the CBA expires

hearing mixed reports for Carolina taking Fairley, Newton or Gabbert. Schefter said he believes they will draft either Newton or Gabbert - said Newton won't fall past the 3rd pick. I wouldn't put it past them to do something stupid - taking Newton or Gabbert @ #1 is very risky and not smart. Just go with Claussen, end up sucking again and have a good shot at Luck in 2012.

Newton - as in Cam Newton? He is not an accurate passer

and passer accuracy is far more important than strength. He is a good runner, but he is not good enough to be in Vick's category. So he is not going to be much of a runner in the pros. At least not for long. Did they reslease his wonderlick score. I am betting it will be somewhere down aroung where Vince Young's was, and we see what a success the Titans have been.

Fairley is a thug.

I would trade down.

I think you trade the pick and try to get a high 1st and 2nd. Take a solid DL with the 1st and a QB with the 2nd or 3rd pick. This Draft doesn't have one QB that stands head and shoulders above others, since luck stayed, but is pretty deep in talent.
