I think we’ve seen enough, with the awareness arriving only because of necessity during the SMU game and Mafah’s manifest I’ll-health, that Adam Randall’s true calling is at H-back
In just these final two games if the season, he’s flashed his potential to be a true weapon at H-back.
By this, I’m not talking about using him in some sort of clunky role in which a scrappy walk-on who loves to block and who, despite a turtle’s speed, has good enough hands to catch an occasional pass to get the team a first down in a 3rd and short situation.
I’m talking about a truly superior athlete whose blend of speed, toughness, great hands, - - - real RB type ability - -, and experience at blocking DBs (which, for A.Randall’s build & agility, could translate into blocking LBs) to create a unique offensive threat for us ne T year.
A.Randall is one of those truly rare highly athletic types possessed with a ‘tough guy’ body to create a position with special plays to carry out.
Lbs would not be able to cover him. DBs, facing him head in instead of laterally, would have a nightmare trying to tackle him. In a foot race after catching the ball on traditional style screen passes, if he gets the block that he’s supposed to get on the screen passes, he’ll outrun most LBs that are not already close in and free to target the tackle on him. He’ll catch the tough pass and not get alligator arms when catching over the middle passes.
(*). Instead of sharing snaps with Wesco, TH Moore, (?) A.Willians (if he forgoes NFL), T.Brown, let’s put him in a different position in which he’ll be on the field at the same time as our stud WRs.
Necessity is the mother of innovation. Mafah)’s and J.Haynes’s injuries forced us to look at A.Randall in a running back type role. We should see the light and awaken ourselves to the H-back way to make a true weapon … unique in some ways … out of Adam Randall.
