Adam Randall comparison

I was listening to Morgan Thomas podcast on the Locked on Clemson. He said his starting running back would be Adam Randall. I don't know how much he progressed in his skill set, but his measurable are interesting. I kinda see a Eric Dickerson type player. Adam is an inch shorter than Eric (6'2" to 6'3") but the weight is similar (220-225). Eric did run a 4.3 in the 40, and Adam ran a 4.45. But I remember how Eric would glide through defenses in the NFL and was very difficult to bring down. I would love to see Adam have a breakout senior year to end a bumpy career here.

I remember Dabo saying he reminded him of Sammy Watkins as a freshman. Maybe he had reached his peak as a freshman. I think he's going to be a good RB.

They young man paid his dividends in the program.... He won us the SMU game with that amazing kickoff return. He got some great runs early vs UT.
But.... every year Dabo pumped him up as the most athletic guy on the team and that might have shown up on the practice field, but it hasn't on Saturdays. I know he battled injuries, but I think overall he has not lived up to his potential.
Obviously a great young man, and he has to be selfless to continue to show up everyday, never be a problem, go to rehab, and continue to fight back from injury. He will be successful in life, I just don't think it will be in football.
That being said, maybe running back is where he will find consistent success.
Go Tigers !!!

I'm concerned with a guy inserted into a position never played
This isn't a flat-out rejection of Randall
I want to reduce turnover risk being that in our last couple of openers with disastrous results especially ( Duke ) it was often cited for the inexplicable outcome
It's a hopeful strategy to use a guy that's never played the position to be your workhouse
You have to know that LSU will be coached up to keep him upright and punch the ball out.
To mitigate the risk split the carries with EZ
Gideon should pass both by midseason

Randall to have a good/solid game. Dabo has shown in the past that he will go with experience out of the gate. I agree that Davis could overtake him by the end of the year, but Randall will get the initial work.
Hopefully Randall will have a breakout year and we have a dynamic 1-2 punch. He has show an ability and willingness to pass protect and can be a HUGE weapon out of the backfield. Major problem for defensive coordinators if we can move him all over the field. I have pretty high expectations for him in the new position. Possible NFL ability

backfield. Adam can outrun people. The flexibility he gives Coach Riley to create matchup problems for defenses is pretty exciting.
We have the depth at running back to not wear him, or any RB, out like we did last year with Phil.
Call me crazy, but I think Adam turns out to be a weapon at RB.

As far as Clemson players, I think the best comp may be Jamie Harper. Similar height and build and obviously can catch out of the backfield.

Comparing Randall to an all time great is a BIG stretch. I hope Randall has a great season but likey more of a roll type player and not an every down back. Time will tell

He has suffered a few injuries at the WR position which...

is not uncommon for someone with a muscled up, bodybuilder physique at the WR position; hopefully the results will be different from the RB position but not likely-

He reminds me a lot of Rendrick Taylor, not so much their playing style, but the expectations of a player that was so athletic, well constructed physically, but never quite made it over the hump. Let's hope that this year is the one that Adam makes a name for himself.

Renderick Taylor was a beast and spring practice monster…
If Adam Randall turns into Eric Dickerson we should have a pretty decent year.
You do realize 4.3 vs 4.45 is like exponential light years apart in actual on field game speed right?
4.45 you can catch the guy and grab a leg or foot or something and drag him down.
4.3 is like he’s six inches from you and you grab AIR and he gone and you can’t believe it.
