I made it to the blue turf field where Woodrow Dantzler dazzled for 4 TDs against Louisiana Tech all those years ago.
One of my earliest memories as a Clemson fan.

Woody was something else when he decided to tuck it and run.
Second only to Homer as a running threat. Imo.
Probably too cold to throw the ball

My bad. Those TDs were all passing. Thats even more impressive.
In my defense he's one of the rare QBs that when is described as dazzling some assume it means running. 😁

Woody Dantzler was a far better runner than Homer Jordan. Not taking anything away from HJ , watched them both play and I make the assertion confidently. Woodrow was one of the best running QBs in NCAA history. Dude was incredible. I'd put him up there with names like Vick & Young as far as his escapability , and his penchant for turning busted pass plays into huge gains or touchdowns.

Maybe so. I'm a little biased by Homer's exhaustive performance that brought us our first national championship
Love that guy.
Love Woody too. You don't realize how special he was until to date nobody has duplicated his ability
Other than those at other schools of course.
In this particular category Tommy Frazier tops my list

I think this may speak for Woodrow's running ability historically:
The first NCAA quarterback to achieve the feat of passing for over 2,000 yards and rushing for over 1,000 yards in a single season was Woodrow Dantzler of Clemson University. He accomplished this during the 2000 season. Specifically, he passed for 2,610 yards and rushed for 1,012 yards, according to Wikipedia. [1, 1, 2, 2, 3]

To each their own, but I used to refer to Woody as "THE most electrifying man in CFB" If you get The Rock reference. Fact is him running with the ball was a thing of beauty for us while scaring every DC EXCEPT Mickie Andrews (FSU) to death. He made Chuck Amato a believer for sure. Imo the only one close was Vick but Woody did 2K/1K first. How he wasnt invited to a Heisman ceremony IS STILL a travesty imo, to me bigger then CJs snub. That Smurf turf game was a heck of a farewell and he is still probably my 2nd favorite Tiger QB after DW4. Go Tigers.

This faxing campaign was, of course, nothing compared to what Patty at the Peach Bowl offices received only a few years later.

Bowden convinced them we would bring 15,000 to Boise to watch that game. Don't think it quite worked out that way.

you could donate money to buy tickets for a charity, maybe the Boys Club?? I know we had promised to sell tickets and I wanted to do my part and bought some of those tickets.
It was good to get back to a bowl game.

That was a great bowl trip. My first and only Clemson game that I attended when it snowed. Really enjoyed my trip to Boise.

I remember that game. Lots of fireworks for the Tigers in the 3rd quarter.
This was when players didn't opt out of Bowl Games.
The bowl season was a time to get as much football in as you could.

Humiliation Bowl. Thanks to Bowden we had to beg for a slot in the smurf turf bowl. Massive low point.
