I won't lie, I was nervous for a second there. It was 7-4 Tigers. Bottom of the 7th. 2 outs. Superregional. Where have we seen this before? (I'll give you 1 guess...) The almost exact similarities were really unnerving.
But the Tigers shut the door! So many big hurdles from previous seasons have been conquered by this team: beat Florida State, win ACC Championship, win ranked series, win vs #1 team, and now this. Truly incredible.

This team is better as a whole! We won on 3-4 player heroics in the past but this is a solid team.

Not enough people realize this. With all due respect, in previous years, the bottom of the lineup was basically a black hole against elite competition. There was certainly some star-power at the top, but you could tell the last 3-4 hitters were just completely overmatched. This team is much more balanced all the way through. We know what Brown, Moore, Knowler, and Cintron can do at the top. Vieira really turned things around at the plate after a dismal start to the year. She's finally fully healthy, and she can hit for contact even against elite pitching. Collins has been an offensive revelation the 2nd half of the season, showing contact and power. Johnson is still somewhat strikeout prone, but she's hitting better now, and her power is off the charts. She's consistently demonstrated that she'll punish mistakes. Pipkins really came on at the end of the season, hitting for contact and power against great competition. Brockenbrough has great speed and consistently gets on base, even against good pitchers. And you've still got Wilson, Minish, Whitesides, and Ariail on the bench if you need them. It's a deep lineup, and there's really no holes anywhere. They also have very balanced hitting, whereas teams of the past became too power-happy at times, leading to lots of strikeouts and poor contact. That hasn't been the case with this group.
