I was against the 12 team play-off and argued that during the 4 team play-off the only real criteria is to make sure the four teams included the best 2 teams. The CFP is to determine the college football champion, not the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best teams. I think the is still the most important criteria ...... find the best 2 teams and make sure they are included.
Therefore, if you are NOT the 1st or 2nd team in your conference YOU ARE NOT ONE OF THE BEST TWO TEAMS IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL ....... PERIOD! You should not be in the CFP, as no one cares who the 2nd thru 12th teams are regardless how to fare in your conference. It is to determine the best team!

Yep .... it's not about us, whether we get in or not. If we get in, maybe we will deserve to be in the field, but it is obvious we probably do not have a chance and are just another of half the field or more that has no real chance. Now the arguing is going to be who were the 13th and 14th teams that thought they deserved to be in the 12 spot. It's all about more money for the Big Two conferences.

That was my thought as well but it's been obvious the media only kept pushing for this to get in more teams from the big 2 conferences. Then when they win every championship they will undoubtedly be able to claim to be the most dominant. Funny how that works.

The three major college sports all have many teams playing for the national champion trophy.
Pro sports all have many teams playing for the big trophy that says you are the best.
If the cfp expanded to 64 teams, so be it. One team will eventually emerge as the best.
Might be fun to watch a 64 team cfp. 🤣😉

Not to me. Who would be excited to see Oregon take on the 16th seed (say Ball State) in their bracket (the 64th overall seed)? Not me. It isn't basketball or baseball and bodies can only take so much punishment.

Not all conferences are created equal.
Your way virtually guarantees that some inferior teams make it in.
No other major sport limits playoff teams that way.
MLB has wild cards.
NFL has wild cards.
NHL has 16 teams in.
FCS has 16 teams in.
NBA has 16.
FBS needs 16, not 12.

Its uniqueness is what made it great, now thats all going away. And the expanded playoff has nothing to do with inclusiveness or fairness or any of that other bullcrap. Its about one thing and that thing is money. Period.

Only the top 5 are guaranteed playoff spots. Some of those play epically weak schedules, from top to bottom.
For example, it's doubtful that the HBCU champ could take even a bottom feeding P4 team.
Just like teams, not all conferences are created equal.
