"Almost 10 officers and agents from the FBI and HSI rushed the metro stop for an alleged fare evader, a crime so minimal it doesn’t even warrant a fine larger than $100?" Columbia Heights Metro Station in DC. Yes we need trained FBI agents to address runaway crime of "Fare evasion". Maybe Henry McMaster could send few hundred more National Guard to DC, as the Dear Leader says, "they are not doing anything anyway".

A lawyer is going to have a field day with this, but he seemed to use restraint as she waa physically resisting arrest. That being said, I'm not sure why she was cuffed. If she didn't pay for her fare, she should have been ticketed.

Were they there specifically to police fare evaders or were they there doing something else then provided assistance with this individual when this incident occurred? The lack of important details like this usually indicates its the latter which doesn't fit the narrative and are therefore omitted. I'll grant you if this occurred as is implies its silly. Im just too well acquainted with left wing propaganda to believe this kind of garbage on its face.

I think the point is spend thousands of tax payer dollars to stop a $5 fare evader which is a $50 fine, not arrest

While this is true theres a flip side to the coin

Misdemeanor crimes like shoplifting, graffiti, homeless encampments on public property, etc and felony crimes in lower economic communities like assault, theft, gang activity, car jacking, etc. need to be addressed and reduced. Methods have to include enforcement but also need to address causes. Overlooking misdemeanor crimes is not the right approach or having the consequences be so minimal that they provide no deterrent.
The problem with the surge of LE and National Guard is that it is a short term solution that doesn’t attempt to address causes. The use of the National Guard in non-emergency situations has many issues and drawbacks.
As most things Trump, the issue is legitimate but the solution is not.

I agree. On a different thread someone brought up the use of National Guard soldiers guarding a bathroom at the Washington monument. I took my family to DC in the spring of 24. While visiting the monument my son had to use the bathroom. If memory serves there is a small bathroom facility at the base of the monument. It had like 2 urinals and 1 stall. Hardley enough space to begin with. Unfortunately, on my visit, a homeless person had camped out in the only stall. I have a lot of empathy for the persons situation. But camping out in the public restrooms is not the answer. So a part of me is glad that resources are being assigned to help prevent this.
That said. Where does the homeless person go? I know there are shelters, but I doubt there is capacity at these shelters for everyone. Also there are some folks that do not want to live in the shelters. Thats why they are camping out underneath overpasses, off exit ramps with trees, and any other piece of public space that may offer a bit of cover from the weather. Arresting someone for being homeless does not seem to be the answer. Forcing them out of the city just pushes those folks on to someone else's property outside the city. So its not solving the problem. I don't have an answer for this but what we are doing is just a band aid. Its not really addressing the underlying issue.

street exploits, along with the Marines, DC National Guard, FBI, DHS, ICE, and all the rest of the resources being poured in there. Once the two teens that were arrested that night get out of jail they will surely think twice about such future shenanigans.
