I just wish I understood the ultimate goal. Are we looking to become a Southeast Asian like economy? I don't understand what is wrong with consistent 5 percent or less unemployment, a globally dominant national currency, and being the major financial center of the world. I guess when we march through Canada to take over Red, White, and Blue Land, and we have a booming textiles industry I'll finally get it.

I know, I know, if we can get the GDP down to $10 trillion per year we can see 10-15 percent growth in Trump's 3rd term. Man's a stable genius.

His reasoning changes every day. At first it was fentanyl, then tariffs were going to be a revenue generator that paid off the debt, then it was because they are charging us tariffs, then it was because he doesn’t want trade deficits.

It’s tough to keep up with the ever-changing reasoning.

Watching Rob Spence try to have Will Proctor throw his way out of the Music City Bowl vs. Kentucky's atrocious run defense while only giving James and CJ 13 carries total.
Except, you know, this example actually ruins people's lives.

They don’t even know what to say, which I have to say has been pretty entertaining. But it starts at the top! Trump’s own people still don’t know if they’re a) doing this to raise revenue and reshore manufacturing and rebalance global trade or b) establish leverage to negotiate down closer to freer trade agreements.
Let me rephrase that. The people who are in charge of doing this don’t know why they’re doing it.

they highlight their own supreme stupidity and subservience to their Dear Leader when they double down in support of tariffs.
I mean, it is a special kind of stupid cult worship to cheer the evaporation of your own retirement savings

The President of the United States (Leader of the Free World):
“We have massive Financial Deficits with China, the European Union, and many others,” Trump wrote. “The only way this problem can be cured is with TARIFFS, which are now bringing Tens of Billions of Dollars into the U.S.A. They are already in effect, and a beautiful thing to behold.”
Every economist who got past Econ 101 in college:
"When a country, like the US, imposes tariffs on imported goods, the importer (usually a domestic company) pays the tariff to the government. However, economists say that consumers often end up bearing the burden of the tariffs through higher prices."
Here's the kicker. In a place like Vietnam, wages are 40/1 in favor if Vietnam being cheaper. For every $40 you'd have to pay an average American to make a widget, $1 gets that widget made in Vietnam. The currency divide is so great, there's zero incentive to leave Vietnam. All this does is hurt American consumers, who shoulder the burden along with the American companies through less profits.

be canceled tomorrow. And if tariffs are so good, why would we cancel them.
Tariff folks have painted themselves into a box because they are the type of people who ate paint chips as a child. And as adults, they drink shots of bleach with raw milk chasers.
