Kitchen Remodel.net: Here we go boys

planning a remodel of the kitchen here soon.
Taking doors off, sanding repainting doing some trim to spice them up so forth and so on.
Repainting inside of the cabinets.
Replacing painted over wood paneling with something nicer.
New counter tops.
No replacing appliances yet.
New backsplash.
Repainting with white satin latex paint.
Black counter tops.
What tips/tricks do you have for me?
Got a palm sander and a finish nailer. Need to find a paint sprayer to make life easier.

heard of doing this. Keep the outside looking nice and keep the doors closed. Wipe the inside down with some clorox clean up every now and then if, for some reason, they are getting dirty.

My wife came in hot putting the boat on the trailer last season and gouged TF out of the gelcoat on the bow, including scraping right through the Imron stripe. Finding a competent gelcoat guy seems to be no problem, but they look at me like I have two heads when I ask about the Imron repair.

Talk to some guys at body shops. They won't know crap about the gelcoat, but they'll speak the Imron language.

Unless you’re planning on spray-painting plywood to use as a countertop, then the answer is “yes, it will”.
But then again, that sounds like something you’d consider.

Sirriusly, I've been through 2. Go ahead and pony up for new appliances - go for a 36" range if room. Get granite. Check out Southern Living or Magnolia or G&G mags for updated ideas. Make sure the cabinets can handle the weight of the granite (voice of experience here). Farmhouse sink.

If you are looking to stay on a budget (and it sounds like you are), check out the stock cabinets they have in store at HomeDepot/Lowe's. They have some in white, a cherry type finish, and some with an oak front that you can paint or stain. Put some new, decent looking formica on top and you will have a good look for not too much money.

Talking with some builders I met in Lowes, they buy the project source cheapo cabinets, rob off the doors and hardware, and trash the cheaply made cabinets. They said they can't make/source the doors as cheap as they can get the whole cabinets. The doors themselves aren't bad.
I did the same thing and am glad I did.

I used them in our laundry room.
They wouldn't hold up in a kitchen. Too much use.
Also, I'm far from rich, so occasionally I have to sacrifice quality in some instances.

Unless nasty, would not touch the inside of cabinets or drawers
Get yourself a random orbital sander. This works infinitely better than a quarter sheet palm device. Your doors are a flat surface so no worries about corners to get into.
Spray. Spray. Spray. Use Ben Moore Regal. It takes a long time to fully cure (2 or three weeks is best) but when it does it is tough as nails and does not water/food stain when wiped off. It can be handled much earlier, but full cure is amazing.
That medalian your wife wants might be pretty, but it will attract regular and greasy dust like a magnet and be terrible to clean.
Natural stone counter tops have to be periodically sealed... no matter what kind. Marble is the worst and granite not far behind. Spill a glass of red wine on either that is not sealed and you are effed. Consider quartz or porcelain (ceramic). Both are virtually indestructible and zero maintenance.
The countertops alone will bust your budget all to hades.
Good luck!!

My last house had that in the bathroom. Looked nice when new, it has sea shells in and unique colorization. the texture is not uniform.
$350 to get it buffed to remove the etching from the water stains from glasses and soap off of it. It was nice and shiny for about 2 weeks, and then looked the exact same as it did before I had it done.
