That know nothing about our basketball history and jumped on the bandwagon after being spoiled by fb success are MAINLY the ones complaining about BB. Some older idiots are included as well but most rational folks realize that if we have winning seasons and 20 plus wins over 50% of the time we need to be overjoyed and SHUT UP !!

The problem is that many fans don’t understand what it takes to get there. They think new coach will magically get us there. It’s rainbows and unicorns level stuff.

In your experience which happens first a monetary investment hoping to win or after you start winning the moneys comes in easier. The historical crap is ridiculous. If you get a good coach that starts winning then you better have the support to keep him.

Arrived in Clemson from southeast VA in Fall of '79 and fell in love with the school and the people. Picked Clemson for good academics, good weather, and mainly ACC basketball. I've attended hundreds of Clemson hoops games, 3 final fours, 20+ NCAA regionals, and some ACC tourneys.
Stopped watching Clemson basketball 12 years ago when I saw the coach and players coached and played scared and unfocused in big games and big moments. Before then, I faithfully followed Bill Foster, Cliff Ellis, Rick Barnes, Larry Shyatt (tough years), Oliver Purnell and 2-3 years of Brownell. So call me a 62 year old punk. I like it.

Class of 1970 guy here and I say

… there was a time when we could count on Clemson basketball being dead last. Dead last was an historical reality … more often than anyone wanted.
It happened … really … too often.
The last time our Tigers finished last was about twenty years ago. Wow … really … wow!
This year the team finished 3rd … according to the NCAA selection committee big brains. Wow … for real … wow!
Yes I like first. Compared to last, though, I like 3rd.

I know you know we didn’t finish third.
I also know you know that finishing third - or 6th - does not put any hardware in a case or any banner in the rafters.
Being content with mediocrity is the illness.

No it isn't. Maybe people just are fine with it. Being helkbent on being first in sports that 18 year olds play is the real illness. And message boards that facilitate empty rhetoric

The number of wins and losses are important but the main thing I’m missing with this program is excitement. That starts with the coach and trickles down. We just have a boring basketball program IMO. I’ll be 60 years old this year and I’m a woman who needs more excitement 😆

You nailed it Tater. I live watching basketball but even the big wins aren’t really very exciting and every time our BBall team lays a big egg like the ACC tourney game it becomes even a little less interesting.

We can do better. If we feel we cannot close it down and reallocate the monies. Hope we don’t believe our history equals our ceiling.

Come on man, I'm a geezer too, but would like to see another coach given a chance at Clemson. Tate Locke (remember "Trader Tates' Monte Carlos?) was coaching the team my freshman year. There have been a few successful coaches in the years since but I think Brownell's time has run its course. Time for a change!

around. Just having 20 wins doesn't carry NEARLY the weight it used to, since most teams play a 30+ game schedule now.
But, I do have to admit that you carry curmudgeonness to a new pinochle of excrements these days. Your pulse, and its downward trajectory are well earned. Happy rebannyhammeredness in advance, I can see it in your future.
