Given Ted Cruz's comments. I'm going to guess this is today's right-wing media talking point. The Army even had to disable comments on the videos due to the bigotry and hate they received.
In fact, you took Ted Cruz's exact Tweet in your OP.
So y'all think this "emasculates" our army?
It's not "hurting our preparednes". The people making these commercials aren't the ones prepping us for war. They're desperately trying to land more recruits to prep us for war.
The fact that y'all are attacking their efforts is pretty sad and, frankly, un-American.

That ad you and Ted Cruz are mocking isn't about "being gay". It's the animated story of an actual real soldier, Cpl. Emma Malonelord, who was raised by two moms.
She is serving our country and Ted Cruz and you are mocking her because you think this is about being "woke".
Imagine how this soldier feels. Serving our nation and agreeing to appear in an ad to help recruit more people like her. Now imagine the Army has to turn off the comments for her video because they are so hateful, and then idiots like Ted Cruz publicly mock it.
And then you do as well.

Tec Cruz Tweeted that same video you posted and said it was the "emasculating" of our military. You posted it, obviously agreeing with him, and said Russia and China are laughing at us over this.
I watch the video and see it's the story about one of our soldiers and how her path led her to serving our country.
If you're mocking that, you're mocking her and the story of her life. And harming our military's attempts to recruit more people like her.

Well, I'll make an assumption that the marketing folks with the military and intelligence community have down some focus studies on what appeals to the younger generation now. Granted, they may be way off--they have before--so maybe it will all fall flat.
I do know this; the military is very desperate for recruits, so they gotta try something.
None of that explains why Russia and China are laughing at us. You know Russia has conscription, right?

But I'm sure comparing recruiting commercials somehow forms a factual basis of opinion.
If you're concerned about Russia, maybe you should have demanded better from our White House the last four years.
EDIT: Our military has been struggling greatly since 9/11 to get more recruits. They need to explore all avenues. I know this kind of stuff upsets you, but they're doing what they can to appeal to this generation.
The fear of being sent to an unnecessary war doesn't appeal much to this generation.
