Since they were up LATE last night discussing music, I mean. I thought I'd jump in this morning and give everybody a chance, because I'm quite certain there's something for virtually everyone to get upset about in this article.

Now I get to preach on the fact that music is a completely subjective art, and bands aren't actually ranked as if they're vying to get into the Rock Band Playoff at the end of the season. There's truly only one constant in the world of music, and that is the fact that hootie and the blowfish is horrible music designed for the sole purpose of making listeners stupider for listening to it. It's hard-coded into the math and cannot be disputed.

The Boss, The Eagles, Kiss, Bon Jovi, Nirvana, U2, and DMB are all vastly overrated.
Jimi Hendrix Experience? They discuss his songwriting inability which I guess is true, but they absolutely slayed.
Kurt Cobain sucked

but by Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, they moved a little away from Grunge.
Blind Melon? Sure
Cadlebox? Did they have anything other than that one album? Decent stuff
Bush was my jam back in the day, but I think they are not as well-regarded.
Foo Fighters are fantastic but maybe because Grohl seems to be such a good guy
Collective Soul? Couple decent songs, reminds me of Junior High but not grunge.
Gin Blossoms? They had good stuff, or at least one good album. Not really grunge though.

I can see where any of those bands are considered overrated by SOMEBODY. Some of these easily make my list (DMB, Eagles, Springsteen, Doors). But Hendrix overrated? Pink Floyd #1 overrated? #1?
Guy hates Prog Rock and Metal obviously. Zero Hair Bands (beside Bon Jovi I guess)? Where are the Nickleback era reps? Or maybe you have to be RATED to be considered OVER-RATED.

namely U2 (their post-mid-90's catalog got more hype than it deserved but 80-92 they were brilliant) and Rush (Yes, Peart's lyrics were often hilariously bad but their musicianship was fantastic) in the name of lobbying for Steely Dan to be included on this list.

It's the same principle drives just about all journalism today...especially sports and politics. If you can poke those emotional responses from people and make them hate you so much they'll keep coming back and driving up your ad impressions, you can get rich doing that. Rush Limbaugh was at the forefront of that movement...there's FAR more ad revenue in making people mad than there is in agreeing with them.
