With the transfer portal and nil. I’d not worry about a red shirt on a player that could help our team now.

Yep, he will be needed against the coots, but, Stellato has had some really bad luck with all the injuries he has had during his Clemson career. I mean he could be labeled as injury prone!

He always seems to be 'All In' and giving 110% when he is on the field. I hope for a full recovery.
On our championship run seasons, the injuries didn't seem to cut as deep as the last few years? We were able to finish strong with almost all of our starters. Injuries are part of the game, but they also make a major impact on the season.
Right now we need to finish strong against The Citadel and the coots....
Go Tigers!

FB is a violent sport and with receivers being some of the lightest with their weight, and when they get nailed by LBs or DEs, they are subject to getting up limping, just part of being a receiver. Personally, I hate seeing a QB getting rid of the ball by throwing it to a receiver in really tight coverage bc most of the time they will get nailed!!!

Played through a few injuries (actually played every game despite them) but I’ve never seen a guy seemingly hurt every time he gets up from a play. I know how this sport is.

Seems like some players are able to duck hard tackles or make themselves small. TS seems to take hard hits every time he touches the ball.

PORTAL PORTAL PORTAL!!!
(nothing happened)
Wasn't something or someone supposed to magically appear once I summoned the Portal?
Or did I do it wrong and invoke a curse, and now next season will turn out like 2024 Florida State?

Once again just because a player is in the portal doesn't mean he is coming to Clemson or even available. Usually already has a deal in place for the good players. You might find someone to fill a roster spot but probably not going to contribute much. Until clemson starts paying no high profile transfers are coming here.

It also doesn't mean they are good or talented enough to take the position from who we already have. Dabo has said more than once he wouldn't take a player from the portal that didn't look to be better than the players that he already has in that position, and that makes perfect sense to me. Plus, why would he want to pisss the players he already has by bringing in a player from the portal no better than they were and cutting into their playing time. If he can't improve the play at that position, why bother bringing in another just like he already has!!!

And you can't predict what injuries you're going to have.
And you can't get better backups than what we already have (b/c those guys are going to go somewhere else to get more playing time).

Anyone, including myself (and I am an idiot mostly) could see early last year we needed more bodies at Offensive Line, Line Backer and Defensive End. But especially Offensive Line, that is why Dabo and Co. made a half A$$ed attempt at trying to go after 3 transfers last year.
Dabo and Luke knew they were going to have an issue with OL depth last year, they just chose to not be aggressive enough in pursuit of transfer portal acquisitions and in recruiting because by the time they got Luke here, it was too late in the recruiting/transfer game.

Now you truly don't know how serious they were about looking into the portal unless you were "privy" to every conversation they had with those portal players, give it a break, you're throwing stone at our coaches when you really don't know what was said with any conversations they had with any portal players!!!

True, I am not privy to inside knowledge, but....

They did attempt to get 3 Offensive linemen, failed at all 3, then tried to back fill with as many OL they could get from HS recruiting...this tells me they knew and should have been more proactive in stopping it from getting bad. Most of this is Dabo's fault for allowing Austin to coach for as long as he did. Point is OL has been a festering wound for a long time now and it could have been addressed a lot sooner.

Any idiot could have looked at this roster last year and seen that our OL was going to be thin this year. You could also look and see that we were going to be thin at DE and LB. You cannot predict injuries, but you can put in place contingencies in the form of backups/transfers/recruits to help you out when you do have an injury.

The Portal is not a Chinese menu where you pick a lineman from column A and a DB from column B and that's that.
First, we have to recognize that fully half of the players in the portal are simply not good enough to land ANYWHERE, and have essentially thrown their scholarships away. Some number are good enough to eventually land somewhere, but are not as good as they thought--they wanted/expected to be able to command playing time and starting roles, but just aren't *that* good. The *really* good players have often already worked out NIL deals for their new jobs.
To make effective use of the portal, we just need to identify the players in the portal who:
* fill some gaps in our lineup
AND
* are not "problem children" on a path to drugs, DUI, arrests... * are willing to fill those gaps, even if the gaps are 2nd and 3rd on the depth chart * are willing to sign without any guarantee of playing time unless they earn it * are willing to sign without up-front NIL guarantees * want to be at Clemson instead of somewhere else (any of the above being more important)
Pretty sure Dabo would sign these kids in a heartbeat. Why wouldn't he?

I hate to hear that about Troy. Get the surgery and come back better young man.
Just when you thought TS was going to make a whole season. You're right, kid can't catch a break. He didn't have gaudy numbers but the passes he caught were critical, drive sustained catches.

The human body wasn't designed to play football, Stellato is a prime example of this. Hope he has a successful surgery, rehab, and return.
