Exactly, what if's don't make a team better. Even with the turover problems fixed Clemson still did not play well enough to win.

Our only score was after a muffed punt within the 20. Duke did have two turnovers and multiple penalties, it's not like they played a perfect game.

about last night.
I mentioned it numerous times in post that the primary factor this season would be ball security and sure enough it bit us the very first game. Those fumbles were all momentum swings, and when we go from the 1 yard line about to score to they have first down on the next play at our 30 yard line is quite the backbreaker.
Interceptions were ugly, Cade downfield throws are a bit worrisome as this was Duke, nothing spectacular about them. All around not much positive from last night.
Special teams: F
Defense: B- only because they did at least force some 3 and outs in the 3rd quarter while our offense kept trying to score unsuccessfully.
Offense: D moved the ball on the ground very well, but those screen passes are nothing without blocking and without the team reading it before you ever snap the ball. Had chances but fumble city kept biting
Coaching: F it seems that the in-game changes/adjustments are lacking. If something works, stick it out and if it does not, just stop. Actually game-plan was suspect but it might have been based on knowing that our offense is very limited and not much this team can actually do on downfield plays.
My fandom: F I found myself back in the old days wondering why/what/when/how...only to realize the reality of the situation : Clemson is not as good as we all had hoped. No matter how you spin this game, simple fact is this football team has a lot of holes to fill and unless somebody fills them in last night will happen again and again.
Love our Tigers but last night was very disappointing for everyone involved. Get home, get healthy, get MEAN, and get it together Tigers. Only 1 game and more to come. At this point no worries about CFP/bowl game, just win the game will be a nice start.

Yeah, but only two losses on the season and we aren't in the playoff. Nothing else really matters in college football now a days. I am.hopong for 10 wins on the season including the bowl game a win over USCjr. 10-3 will work. That's good for a top 15 ranking and keep us in the 2nd tier teams. Maybe in a couple years we can.be an elite program again, one that is seriously a contender.

I agree with the first part that nothing matters outside the playoffs again. But our recruiting has fallen year after year. Players like Wesco and Brown don't go to programs that are not competitors. We're going to fall further and further behind. We're losing our entire starting defense after the year. This was our last big chance to make a splash. What do we have to offer 5 stars if we don't have NIL money and aren't playoff contenders?

Let's assume everything else plays out like it did, except we make the two field goals and score TDs instead of fumbling, that's 20 points. Add that to the 7 we did score and we lose 28-27.

We lost because our OL didn't do their job on critical plays.
Are we going to get new OL players?
No
And since nobody seems to recognize the problem, I see no reason to believe they will correct it.
