Still wondering if Cade is a normal 5* that needs time or DJU 2?

He could truly just need time to grow up like ANY non-freak(freaks being TLaw and DW4). Even Tahj needed time. I’m not seeing many first year QB’s winning it all or being ridiculous their first year with a first year OC and new system. I still want to believe in Cade. How do you guys feel about it?

I just need him to have that killer swag instinct. I saw a nice flash of that when he came in for DJ when we played UNC in the ACC Championship game. That is what I thought I was going to see. But it went sideways...to a degree. I think this year he needs to be smarter...tougher like Whitehurst was...and get that killer instinct going again.
Now much improved offensive attack and much improved offensive line should help with all of that.

I am also reminded of the flash we saw from DJU when he had to come in for Trevor during Covid. I wonder if there is a mental element at play. Coming in as a backup and being able to let it fly vs having the pressure of being the starter and second guessing yourself because you are scared to let down the team as it's leader.

There was never anything about DJU that pointed to five star anything except maybe an OG except hic feet were too slow...I had hoped that the injuns could use him...one more outing like last week and Nowell will be going to the portal! CADE can have his chance now...go back and look at the first team reps he had before being thrown into the fire...wasted a lot of good pt on DJ!

This year will tell the tale, IMO. He will "look" different than he has, or he won't.
He's solid. Can he be elite? I'm going to be hopeful that he takes the Bo Nix path.

Cade needs time.
Whether or not he's the next Joe Burrow or not remains to be seen.
I'm confident he'll have better blockers (O-Line, TE, and WR*******) this season.
Mafah man is going to help carry a ton of the load and take pressure off with those 3-4 yard runs.
I'm confident we'll have more guys step up on the WR side this season than in the last several years.
Cade has a 5* heart but has played like a 3* QB. I'm confident we'll see a big stride from him this year and I think we all hope he has a 5* year and can go pro but realistically I expect a 4* year from him and for him to come back next year as one of the top QBs for the 2025 season.

At this point; "it's show us time"!
Show yourself! Show the people who rated you that high! Show the coaches who offered you from half way across the country! Show the fanbase and all of CFB!
OP you said it. Most QB's don't light it up right away. In this case, especially a QB who from going back and looking at his video from H.S. played in a really good system. Not saying he is a system QB. Just saying, if your scheme is just better than anybody you are playing against you may look even better than you actually are. That same video tells me; he can do it!
This is year two in the same "system" so at this point; "it's let's wait and see time"!
Hard opening opponent - no doubt. But, if Cade and this offense has any success against Georgia at all, the rest of the schedule had better watch out.
Nobody is going to say it out loud; but everyone knows Gerogia is tough on D. Give credit where it's due. If Clemson is able to move the ball; given Georgia's reputation and Kirby's history, I feel like it will be lights out for the rest of our schedule, period!

I think he’s been much more Bo Nix at Auburn than Kyle Parker but not a bad comparison either.

but not significantly more like you said. KP was an Elite 11 QB. He wasn’t some marginal prospect.
My point is that thus far, Cade has been more similar to Kyle Parker in play and effectiveness than he has someone like Deshaun or Trevor.
I don’t really think that’s debatable. The hope of course is that Cade has a great year and makes such comparisons laughable. But so far? The shoe fits.

He hasn't reached his ceiling yet so time will tell. He can still be a #### good QB.
I think he's getting there. Unlike DJ who is a finished product.

He's not a generational talent like TL or DW4. But if he can play mistake-free and make good decisions on Saturday, we have a chance.

as much about Coach Riley as it is Kade... did he get him ready? Kade is plenty capable... does Matt Luke have the O-line ready? That is where we win or lose... trenches and prep...

Go back and watch these highlights from Tahj's redshirt sophomore year. A lot of tendencies that we saw from Cade last year. Antsy in the pocket, trying to force throws, etc...
We would go on to win the opener the next year to win the opener... against UGA of course.
