Juice milking USCjr for money for a year without playing and now he is leaving - just another example that it is NOT the answer - it can supplement roster but you have to be careful to protect your locker room and team from the mindset of "highest bidder" mentality and it is a very tough situation to navigate - next week will be a zoo and circus combined.

At this point recruiting the portal isn't any different than recruiting high school players.

If you really went down to the detail about the only difference you could claim is that the dollar amounts are higher in the portal.

Whichever location you are recruiting, it's all about finding the right players and matching them with your program.

The portal isn't evil or unstable anymore than any other area of college sports.

school colors, pride, fan bases, traditions etc... it is all about $$$. If Collins can get $300k by switching... why not? And coming from a school like Clemson elevates his pedigree. It is all $$$ now.

As far as education, you can get one anywhere. Even online.
