Good morning everybody. How was your weekend?

Friday night, got together with some folks at Shoeless, good drink and good conversation.
Saturday, was up early but a lazy morning before heading up to Tennessee. I also managed to not homicide anybody who thought it was a good idea to park on my grass for my neighbors garage sale. I need to find out the laws that. Finally get on the road, went the Knoxville way to Maryville, roll into The Shed about 6 pm for Ray Wylie Hubbard. First full band LOUD show in 14 months, it was a blast.
Sunday, learned about some odd Tennessee beer laws and headed home.

Friday - Took the boat to the marina for some over priced food. $70 for 2 wraps an chx sammich and a burger along with 2 beers and 2 sprites.
Sattidy - Spread the last of the 20 yds of mulch. Braised some excellent short ribs.
Sunday - Chilled, fished (no catches, I'm no McLovin) watched golf and grilled a pork tenderloin
9.6/10 - deductions for being tired after manual labor

Friday: tried to stay awake to watch the Canes, but 3 periods is where I draw the line.
Saturday: Toured a few homes. Loved one. Got takeout because we didn't have time to cook.
Sunday: Put in an offer on said home. $43,500 over asking. Watched the Canes lose ANOTHER double overtime game. Toured another home just incase. Got takeout because, again, we did not have time to cook because of an upset child. Found out at 9:30 that we did not get said home and went to bed.

Saturday - Went to a kid's birthday party, then went out on the boat most of the rest of the day with friends. Dinner out with them, then got hammered with the neighbors.
Sunday - Hungover. Chores. Watched Phil win. Cooked some burgers. Early bedtime.

An absolutely stellar weekend.

Friday, finished work and headed over to RH Mom's for a visit. Back home to play with the pup for a bit by the lake, then back to a waiting sirloin with a baked sweet potato with honey, butter, and crushed red pepper and several cold beers. Watched Army of the Dead on Netflix. I wouldn't call it a classic zombie movie, but it was a fun watch.
Saturday, up for for Coffee & Vinyl Saturday morning Select-O-Pick with the Mrs. Had several new discs to spin including American Aquarium, Sturgill Simpson, and Jon Prine Live. It was delightful. Took the pup over to the lake and let her swim for almost 2 hours, then back home for a quick bite to eat and a shower. Then head head over to pick up my Stingray bass from the luthier I recently discovered lives a half mile from me. Turns out the dude is almost a secret around town, and works magic on instruments. Came home and played for a bit and confirmed this guy is as good as his reputation. Mrs. was working her new part-time job at the summer camp on the island behind the house, so I made a homemade pizza on the ciabatta crust I had in the fridge. Turned out spectacularly. Then, grabbed the bass and headed off to the first full band LOUD electric jam we've had in a year and half. Knocked the rust off pretty quickly and pulled off a nice mix of our old standard set list and a handful of new ones we threw together on the fly. Had a fantastic time and ended up playing until 1am.
Sunday, slept in. Up for a coffee bracer and then a quick shower, and off to the grocery. Mrs. was working at camp again, so I came home and put the groceries away, then took the pup on a short hike downriver. Back over to RH Mom's for a quick visit, she was watching the softball game and things weren't looking good. Left just after 4 and headed up I-77 to the Thirsty Beaver for the first time in over a year and half to see the legendary Redd Volkaert play. The Beaver was hot, crowded, and absolutely electric since it was the first show since the pandemic shut down. Lots of the old regulars and lots of musicians in attendance. Come to find out that several of the guys playing country in working bands around Charlotte are originally from Rock Hill. I had no idea until yesterday, so it was a great show and wonderful time commiserating with homeboys. Back home at 9, quick microwave meal and then into the Big Chair like a zombie until bedtime.
This was the first 19/19 Covids weekend since the pandemic started. I was supposed to be in Maryville for Ray Wylie Hubbard with aero & SharkGirl because sis was going to be out of town and we were going to dog sit with Joonyer's pups but neither ended up happening. Turned out that karma was on my side anyway...it was a glorious weekend after all. I am paying for it a bit this morning though. Five hours of standing with a 9 pound bass on Saturday and 4 hours of standing on a concrete floor at the Beaver last night has me kind of stiff in the joints this morning. Worth it though.

Friday night was bourbon and to bed

Saturday AM son of team won the soccer game, even though they asked us to face the flag for the anthem, and there was no flag. They're like 3 or 4 and 1, I forget. No one keeps score but parents. Heavily pregger SIL and BIL came by to get the glider we never use anymore. Anyway, Saturday went to Lowes and bought a new shower drain and gate latch. Replaced the leaking shower drain, gate put off a week. MAJOR pita, more than expected. Son of got his parvo shot at the Wal-Greens. Sore arm is all. Bought a new welcome mat, and fixed the loose outside spigot. Wife went to Wal-Mart and I went to Publix and we divided and conquered groceries (saved $100 too). Then cooked steaks and rolled fat aluminum joints and grilled them as well. Was good. Bourbon again. Sunday was church, then went and trimmed up the trees at mom's house so she can see the lake better. Bought her $500 in food. Fixed up her medicine container for the week. She had two bottles of the same pills and she would have double-dosed them (why I do this now). Pressure wash guy came for an estimate Saturday, he used to do our grass then changed professions. $0.10 per square foot of the house was his rate. Seemed reasonable. Fixed mom's water. Last night was green beans, couscous and butterfly poke chawps. More bourbon. Oh, and corrected three reports for work on Sunday.
Overall 7.941/10.

Anniversary Weekend so you know it was LIT

jk, Friday took a kid to Football, dropped another off at a friends' house and me and the wife and daughter celebrated by cleaning the house. Then we picked up the boys, tried to grab dinner from a restaurant that closed down due to lack of staffing, and ended up eating a 9:00 dinner at Charanda's. The tacos al pastor were pretty good though. No ana>l because tacos, I was stuffed already.
Up Saturday to get a run and bike in before we had to hit up AXS for tickets. I wanted to be back by 11:00 to get fully prepared. Therefore wife and kids took their sweetass time and we made it back by 11:50. Luckily I got in the ticketing "waiting room" on my phone and pulled 4 Widespread Panic Red Rocks tickets for the friday show. I need one more, but that will work itself out. Celebrated by going to the pool and having a little too much to drink. Cut the grass around the pool and went to Mellow Mushroom for dinner, bought shoes for the kids which were much more expensive than I realized they were. Used a coupon because it made me feel like I wasn't getting my wallet r8ped. Birkenstocks and Chacos are expensive.
Sunday up for church, lunch, home for pool time. Few beers but not too many, Publix for groceries and dinner, then 19B'd the weekend.
Very successful weekend, but Mom is in the hospital and we are awaiting test results to see if she has some kind of infection or the cancer has spread. We all kind of know what is going on, but we don't WANT that to be the case.
9/10 for weekend with a 3 point deduction for Mom stuff, so 6/10.

Friday - Wasn't feeling great, went to bed early. Awoken at 1am by son letting me know that small dog had the green apple splatters in his bedroom. Got up, groggily helped son clean carpet.
Saturday - Took daughter to tryouts for national lax team. She crushed it. Probably only good part of weekend. Came home, made token appearances at graduation drop-in parties for two friends' kids. Came home, REALLY felt like shid, went to bed at 8pm.
Sunday - Still feeling bad, got up and found that big dog had two instances of green apple splatters on various hardwoods on main floor. Cleaned them up. Noticed that curiously, I couldn't smell said splatters even though I knew they must smell like Satan's own fart bomb. Called church band organizer and told them they'd need to use the drum machine that day because I couldn't make it. Went to bed. Got up when family got back from church, watched Monaco GP which, gloriously, had no LewHam or Merc on the podium. Back to bed. Slept till 4. Still felt bad, had to cancel going to in-laws to celebrate daughter and wife's early b-day celebration. Back to sleep. Got up today, might be 6/10 at best. My mutated RNA seems to be rebelling against me.
2/10 weekend would not do again.

barely, barely serviceable drummer. Once I learned (not mastered, learned) guitar, I've been on a music nerd binge to learn as many instruments as I can. Only have guitar, bass, mandolin, and drums in the bag right now, but piano is next.

Started Saturday off with a 7.5 mile trail run in Hitchcock Woods. Drove up to Spartanburg for oldest daughter's graduation. Had an excellent dinner at Cribbs Kitchen. Crisy Brussels Sprout and Pimento Cheese Dip appetizers and a Crusted Blue Cheese Ribeye. Sunday post-graduation had a Shrimp & Grits Omelet as well as finishing my wife's Bananas Foster French Toast at Eggs Up Grill (couldn't get in at Mon Amie Cafe).
Graduation was fantastic and difficult. Despite starting at 8am to beat the heat, it lasted almost 3 hours and everyone was baking in the sun by the time it was over. Converse did a fantastic job of honoring and awarding the posthumous degree to my daughter's suite mate and friend, they not only shared a suite but were 2 of 4 graduates in Art Therapy. Converse was amazing in how they handled this loss, but probably not unique for a small school. I think it helped to bring some closure not just to my daughter but to much of the student body who likely would have known her.
Now I've got one under my roof again that needs to find a job and move out. She plans to work with senior citizens with Alzheimers having degrees in Art Therapy & Psychology.

Friday: took off early went to Cootlumbia to see my daughter in the state finals in track and field. She finished fifth in two events and was second in her third. Made the all-state team for the 1600m and the 3200m
Saturday: slept in a bit, my twins graduated high school. Was a sentimental moment as they were eight weeks premature and seeing grow from 2 lbs at birth to adults is pretty amazing. We all went out to eat afterward and rested.
Sunday: up early, watched church, watched EPL action, thank God for the Spurs. Arsenal is stayiong home all of next season, no European soccer for them
Watched Phil win the PGA, had a senior dinner at church after the PM service.
Somewhere in there I saw tigermanac® did something to upset Father G®

Protip: If you are 50+ and trying to look like Robert Plant at 28, maybe you might want to do some crunches, or situps or somethin'. Anyway, they were pretty good, played outside. Didn't play "the Ocean" and a couple other favorites, but overall I give it a B+ for effort. I was going to leave, but stopped and watched the band inside for another hour or so. Made it home at 12. The joys of getting old--my ears are still ringing today.
Saturday I drove up to Murrell's inlet to look at 2 houses. One of them was walking distance to the marshwalk, and both had potential but needed a lot of work to make them functional for us. Kind of a wasted trip, but worth it sort of, I guess, to get a feeling of what I want to spend is going to buy us.
Later when I got home I goofed around for a bit then walked up to the Bing-ee (the Dinghy) to see Hans Wenzel do a few sets. He obviously didn't want to be there, and for Hans, he was phoning it in. It was super crowded with drunk Jersyites and I think it was annoying him. I bought him a PBR and talked for a minute, then we walked back home. Next time, I'm bringing my own beer. They only had 2 bartenders and it took forever to get beer.
Sunday slept all morning, then walked down to the beach to see what was going on. Things I noticed: little black kids are cuter acting than little white ones, and all kids run and around scream and squeal a lot like they are being eaten by sharks. That's annoying AF. People with blue hair are typically pasty white and have a lot of cellulite. Dudes who look like lumberjacks with long beards probably should wear more sunscreen. In general, there are a lot of very fat people. Skinny in shape people are the rarity, and not the norm. Seems that's flipped 180 degrees from when I was young and used to hang out on the beach.
Also, COVID is no longer a thing apparently. People are back to invading your space and getting as close as possible to everyone else in an attempt to be "there" faster than everyone else.
8/10 covids, with the only detractors being loud, rude yankees.

Murrell's Inlet: Rock Hill on the coast.

It's unreal how many folks I know from Rock Hill that have moved there over the years. A few friends from college as well. I don't get down there much at all, but it seems to have a great bar-based social scene and given that, you'd think the live music would be much better than it actually is. Just had this same conversation with a co-worker whose former in-laws live there this morning, he said basically it's bars and seafood in the Inlet. There are actually a couple of Rock Hill bands that play down there a lot because they can draw so many friends that have moved there.

Last weekend daughter graduated from her masters program. Week prior she flew to CA to interview for a job in Monterey. They made her an offer...she verbally accepted, and they said they'd send out a contract for her to sign.
She told me she was having it sent to my house. She didn't know when they would send it out.
I checked my mailbox daily, and looked onto my front porch through the window everyday. Nothing.
Friday I'm doing yard work and see a fedex package on my front porch...leaning against the wall next to my door. The single place it can't be seen through my window. It had arrived on Tuesday.
My daughter is out of town, part of the wedding party one of her friends from school. She calls me on Sunday - I tell her that her contract has arrived. She asks if I've reviewed it. I tell her I haven't opened it but if it's ok I will now. She says go ahead.
I open it. The thing that really stands out on the cover letter is...Please return one signed copy of the Employment Agreement by May 24th, 2021. If we have not received a signed copy by that date we will assume you have declined our offer.
FML...
