24-3 through what is arguably the tougher half of the schedule on the front

would seem to indicate "for real". It'll be difficult to keep up that blistering pace and I wouldn't project a 48-6 (or however many games are left) final record, but yeah. They good.

because it was crap weather, rain delayed and it was Winthrop. Skipped it.

yeah, they are good. Almost always trail early for some reason, but no lead is insurmountable, ask FSU.

Pitching is solid, starters a bit shaky due to injury (Smith and Gordon, maybe our 2 best pitchers) Get them back 100% and you have a weekend powerhouse. Knaak is a freshman All-American in progress. Ton of quality experienced relief pitching. Both righty and lefty.

Outfield is SOLID w/ Cam, Taylor and new guy Mathes. Crighton and Bissetta could start if there was room, they are high quality subs.

The entire infield is made up of shortstops, any of them can play any position. Throw Purify in there and you have 5 great infielders that can hit. We have no "natural" 1B but that hasn't been an issue so far.

Catching was potentially a catastrophe w/ Jarrell out with broken bone in face, but Obertop played ironman for that month and now Jarrell is back. So that position is tight now. But just 2 real catchers, hope for no more injuries there. 3rd stringer is freshman.

Biggest improvements are fewer strikeouts and errors. 34 errors in 28 games, about 1 per game. MUCH improved from past years.

Amazing thing is, they haven't even played to their peak ability yet due to all the injuries. Get everybody gets healthy --- watch out.

Mathes seems to have a heck of an arm

from deep.

Thanks for the rundown. Between living in the frozen tundra, spring break vacation and work, I have struggled to keep up.

I have seen 4-5 games and all were great to watch.
