We used to go visit the grandparents every year. A trek into Pittsburgh was always on the agenda. …but that was forever ago.
My wife, kids and I made the trip a few years ago as a family vacation. I hadn’t been back in easily 20 years and it was just something to do as a vacation before heading to see family.
The city is a lot cleaner and nicer than when I was a kid. No longer just a steel town. There’s lots to do. Not counting the Steelers or the Penguins (or the Pirates if you wait until spring/summer) some of my favorites -
Kennywood is a smaller amusement park outside the city. Good roller coasters, lots of fun. I’m pretty sure their season is closed, however. https://www.kennywood.com/
You can easily spend the entire day at the Carnegie Museum. Dinosaurs, natural history, art. https://carnegiemnh.org/
The Zoo and Aquarium is on par with any that I’ve been to. https://www.pittsburghzoo.org/
And tons of parks if you like nature and ####. Frick Park being my favorite. https://pittsburghparks.org/explore-your-parks/regional-parks/frick-park/
and, of course, go to Primanti Brothers for a pastrami on rye and an Iron City. https://primantibros.com/

Thankfully, I have a room.. Just not a ticket but shouldn’t be hard to get.
Hope to see you all there!

Or are you using Pittsburgh as a "near enough" locator for Wheeling Jesuit or WVU? Just curious.

We did recruiting trips to Lehigh and Pitt. Pitt was awesome but I loved Lehigh, very unique and beautiful setting.

Used to own a condo there....

was constantly there for work, so I purchased a condo so that my wife could come and stay with me.
Food is great! House bars are so much fun.
If you have time, visit Sunnyside. Its a really nice area of the city and has many many great bars and restaurants.
