Cade How Long is His Leash

I have been on assignment flat out busting it for work and have not been following spring ball and summer workouts and therefore am behind the curve. But, here are my questions: is anyone pushing Cade on the depth chart, and do you think Dabo may have Cade on a short leash?

If practice looks like the Spring Game, then Pearman is ready to go. Vizzina ain’t pushin anyone.

I honestly don’t believe Cade will be at Clemson next season. I don’t believe he will be any better and still can’t read a defense. I hope I am wrong but believe he will get benched and transfer. The best case scenario if that happens is to offer Cutter Woods from Westside. Rumor is he wanted a Clemson offer and was only offered a preferred walk on for next signing year. Dudes a baller and is better than anyone on Clemsons roster right now at QB.

Cutter Woods dropped his commitment to Wake Forest and is now committed to South Carolina according to the Anderson paper.

You can’t judge a high school QB playing at the high school ranks on how good they are. I watched several complete Westlake 6A championship games when Cade Klubnik was QB. He looked great, but he also had an OL and the wide receiver that ultimately was recruited by Notre Dame and performed like an All American there.get Cade the support that he needs and he will shine.

If you recall, when Cade got hurt (shoulder) at Westlake HS, his backup stepped in for three or four games and threw 16 touchdowns and got an offer to TCU or Rice (can't recall which one). Cade was surrounded with loads of talent there. Its not difficult to look like a world beater when playing for a powerhouse team. Cade is good, and a good kid, just maybe not as good as we all thought out of high school.

If Cade whips Georgia, then everyone that is negative 99% of the time will have to eat crow. I am hoping that happens. Then Cades numbers will explode, Heisman trophy candidate, and more.

I don't know why people continue to push this hype about Pearman.
I also know know why people can't see the parallels between 2022, when everybody claimed we needed Klibnik in over Uiagalelei, and Klubnik didn't turn out any better.

Cade has all season. As the #1 QB recruit in the country, failure to develop Cade on the heels of DJ, says as much about the coaching staff as our QB's.
I believe Cade and Riley put it together this year if allowed to breathe and do more than hand off to Mafah and throw bubble screens on 1st and 2nd downs.

Heard good things about Pearman but for some reason, Dabo won't pull a QB even though he is stinking up the joint. Look how long he stuck with DJ.

TL 16 became the starting QB at the Ga Tech game when he rolled left and threw an laser to Renfrow in the endzone

Dabo will pull a QB if he’s stinking up the joint and there’s a potential program-changing QB waiting in the wings. He did it in 2014 when he sat Stoudt for Watson, he did it in 2018 when he sat Bryant for Lawrence, and again in 2022 when he sat DJU for Cade. He will pull The trigger if the backup has shown anything. But we 100% do not want Pearman as our starting QB and Vizzina has looked like a complete swing and a miss, so nobody is pushing Cade.

100% agree.
Don’t put a lot of weight in spring game.
Players don’t develop much from January to April.
Players do develop from April to September.

I loved Vizzina’s HS film. I thought at one point he’d have a better college career than Cade. I hope he balls out and has a great career, I just need to see it before I start buying his stock.

Let's get real, if you have a real good OL you can have a little above average QB and thrive. Look at GA, and Alambama in the past. If your OL is not so good your QB has to be well above averaage to be a decent team. Clemson 2020. If Cade steps up great, we will have a chance to be real good, if not, Vizzina is a bust. Pearman has a better instinct when to pull the ball and run then Cade. He is a decent passer. If Cade is a bust we must try Pearman.

A LONG Leash.....

...the backup situation isn't ideal.....
As well as Pearman performed in the spring...to expect he becomes the next Shane Matthews or Stetson Bennett is very optimistic.

Pretty dang long. Like the whole season long. There’s nobody else. Pearman looked good during the Spring Game but it was the Spring Game. And we all know Dabo ain’t pulling his QB. We’ve seen this movie.

His leash is no longer than who would be the alternative? I've watched a lot of games over and have seen the good Cade, the mediocre Cade and the bad Cade. My opinion is, if Cade can control his emotion's,he will light it up...if not, we are in trouble.

If you remember… Cade was not our first choice when he was recruited. Ty Simpson was and he went to Alabama. He’s not pushing Milroe much and did not look good at all when Milroe was struggling at the beginning of last season. I think we actually got the better of the two. I think Cade balls out this year.

Agreed. I’m as inpatient as anyone but I really believe in Cade… I bet he proves my skepticism wrong. I definitely hope so but if I was a betting man I’d say Cade is gonna prove his mettle this year and I’m gonna be embarrassed of my criticism

Much longer than it should be i’m afraid. I do think he’s a competent QB, and will have a breakout year. But i don’t see our coaching staff yanking him at all.

Not a short leash. He is as good as the OL goes. Got to get time to see the open receiver. Then if we can run block too. Be able to get 4 or 5 yards on 1st down.

He’s Dabo’s guy. That’s clear.
Plus, I don’t think we have anyone else on the roster who is better. We haven’t done a good job building talented depth at QB recently.

Those are Dabos dogs and the leash is only important if he stops and craps in your yard...your coaching prowess left with Jeff Scott!
