More ESPN/ NFL bias against Watson

ESPN/NFL just can't help themselves can they, i posted about this 4 days ago and they keep proving me right. they now have another front page article on Watson "wondering" if it could be the worst trade ever (browns picks for Watson)

Lets stick with the cold hard facts Watson has played in 12 games for the Browns after being suspended for 2 years for not committing a crime. in those 12 games he is 8-4, including leading the team back from a big deficit in a huge game on the road with division leading baltimore with a broken shoulder and high ankle sprain.

I noticed they are trying to sort piggyback off of Stroud having 2 good games in a row (they were 3-4 before that) to try to dig the knife into watson a bit deeper insinuating to the Browns you could have had all this. I have nothing against stroud but he hasnt finished the season either and he hasnt done anything watson didnt do in his first year starting with the texans.

Having said all of that how do you think the NFL would frame any other QB like Burrow or Mahomes, overcoming a huge deficit in a big game on the road then turns out they had a broken shoulder.

The NFL claims its bottom line is just win baby......ok then....watson has an equal record with mahomes in his last 12 games, a better record than Brock Purdy in his last 12 games, a better record than Joe Burrow in his last 12 games, a better record than Josh Allen in his last 12 games.........without one of his top OL and nick chubb for the last 2.........now lets here the excuses.

He's also just wrong in a lot of places. Watson wasn't suspended for 2 seasons. He refused to play for Houston after getting paid. Even if you don't believe the sexual assault stuff (personally I believe he's guilty as all ####) his actions are those of a major ####### and the fact that he played good football for Clemson doesn't change that.

the Browns having the best defense in the NFL?

He just hasn't been very good in most of the games that he has played in, plus he's also missed a bunch of games for various reasons. Not only that, but the Browns structured his contract in a way that will cripple them through the 2026 season. His cap hit is approximately $64 million/year for the next 3 years.

so anything having to do with worst trade ever is just lunacy!

Cleveland has 6 wins this year which would be a phenomenal year any year for the Browns.

Money wise it could turn out pretty bad but that is the game in 2023.

Social media criteria : Overpay, overhype, and then in the end expose. Rinse/repeat

Now that is a nice story, maybe it can happen.

Stroud has been amazing this year, by the way

The Texans being 5-4 does nothing to change that fact. They went 3-13-1 last year.

Stroud is currently:

#2 in passing yards
#3 in yards per attempt
#1 in yards per game
#1 in fewest interceptions thrown (among QBs who have started most of their team's games)
#10 in QBR
#6 in passer rating

Watson had a good rookie season (in the 7 games that he played in before his injury), but what Stroud is doing is historic for a rookie QB.

The media usually hypes stories for 2 reasons:
1. Their goal is to get more clicks and they think a particular story will drive that so they push it (they are in the business of making money)
2. Propaganda purposes (they are all owned by 3 giant companies that have pretty much the same agenda)

The Watson stuff fits into the first category. I mean, why even make it about Watson at all? If ESPN and fans want to say it's the "worst deal in history", take it up with the ownership/management of the browns organization. Anyone in Watsons position would've happily signed the dotted line to be set for life and if you didn't you are an idiot.

The Browns fans and media were both saying 2 weeks ago that Watson was faking his injuries and didn't wanna tough it out. Well now look at what has happened and rushing back to early may have been the straw the broke the camels back as far as his shoulder goes . But I still believe DW4 has it in him to make a comeback

Given his historic contract, coupled with what the Browns gave up to get him, expectations are naturally going to be high. He hasn’t played very well in Cleveland, not to mention he’s injury prone.

As for bias against him, you can’t blame people for not pulling for a guy who has been accused of the stuff he has.

I’m pulling for him, as I have fine memories of him at Clemson, but it seems that he’s a different guy now.

This more than just an article about a bad contract.
The NFL and affiliates have been determined to smear Deshaun since he criticized Houston management and told them to shove their money, he was out of there.
You think it was a coincidence that at that time 24 massage therapists, probably the only massage therapists in the world that didn't know how to handle someone making a pass at them, and also the only sorority that didn't let each other know when they ran into a bad news customer, decided that Deshaun was an abuser and sued him?
The NFL wouldn't conspire in that?
Come on.
Look at the suspensions.
Look what they did to Colin Kaepernick for just kneeling down.
This all goes back to Houston.
I hope they never win another game.

The kind of money they are paying Watson should have been reserved for buying a SuperBowl ring. Haslem would have overpaid if Watson was a top QB. The reality is Haslem knew Watson would miss time last year and now he is missing half a season this year due to injury. Barring a SuperBowl win in the first 3 years, this was always going to be a great deal for Watson and a terrible deal for the Browns.
Don’t shed any tears for DE4 though. He has so much guaranteed money, he really never has to pay again.
