Saw Monster last night. Not an easy film to watch....

Charleze Theron did a remarkable job with her body transformation and did a very nice job with her acting. I don't know if it was the BEST from last year and without the physical transformation I don't think she wins the Oscar (but I haven't seen ALL the other performances yet).
Christina Ricci was good as well.
I realize the women had a horrible HORRIBLE life and was never given a much of a chance, but she was a serial killer. I found some sympathy in her story, but not in here.

doubt about how hard of a life she had. There is no proof that any of the men she killed had done anything to her.
She basically admitted that she had killed several of them for the hell of it, which he lover testified to and what lead to her conviction.
The movie portrays her life MUCH more sympathetically than the facts would dictate. Some of the men she killed were more than likely good samaritans who were stopping to help a woman in distress. Most of the others were just simply picking up a cheap hooker, not exactly a death penalty offense.
She got what was coming to her and if she were a man the only movie about this would be a horror movie.

Like I said, she had an awfu life, but the movie was a little apologetic and blame laying for me

really good. It was definitely the best of the three. The new director was very true to the story and got most of the key points in the book into the movie. It was darker than the other two and definitely not very appropriate for small children.
A few random thoughts:
I was personally a little ticked that they never explained the name of the Marauder's map. This is minor and if you had never read the book you wouldn't know any better but they made a point of giving you the name (Moonie, Ringtail etc) but never went back to explain why it was named that and why that was so important to the story.
The girl who plays Hermione is going to be HOT when she gets a little older.
These kids are getting too old to play these roles. They are supposed to be 13 but they look 15 or 16 already. They are going to have to recast the roles by the time they get to movie 4 or 5 at the absolute latest.

I understand that they have already started shooting number four with the same cast. But 4 and 5 are huge books and it's going to be tough to squeeze them into a movie.
You're right about the kids. They are going to be thirty by the time the seventh book is filmed.

At the conclusion of the next film, they'll still be under a year older than their book counterparts.
The quickly growing adolescent body factors well into JK's work. Two more movies shouldn't be a problem at all...
especially when we have 30 year olds playing high school students in the US.

characters in this movie? I thought they did. Maybe its just the phase they are in but I read they are aging 2-3 years in the time it takes to shoot, edit and release a movie but their characters are only aging one.
I didn't think too much of it in this one until at one point they said something about a "13 year old wizard" and it really jarred me that they looked so much older. Maybe if they just stopped referencing a specific age, it would help.

I actually like the transition... and as you'll read in my review...
Those 3 have made those roles theirs. I was amazed by their performance in this last installment.

the map name is just one incident that wasn't described. There was also an incident about Snape saving Harry's life to pay him back because Harry's dad saved his and thats why Snape hates him so much. I thought this was a pretty important minor point that didnt make it to the movie. As there were many. This is what really makes me wonder if the next movie will cut it because it is thicker than the bible!
Maybe the DVD will involve some of these scenes in the extras.
You are right on about Hermione-I give her a year or so before she makes her first LBOD appearance.
As for the aging, the boy who plays Harry is already laying seeds in interviews about not playing the part after the 4th movie.

I haven't seen the movie yet, and I have to wait until my mom comes down for a visit in two weeks to see it. I'm really looking forward to seeing it, though, and I don't know if I'll be able to wait.
I would hate for the character's to get recast because I think that the current actors do such a great job. I can't wait to see Gary Oldman as Sirius.
