A Georgia friend of mine told me this afternoon that finebum

Nov 8, 2021, 6:51 PM

said on his show today if Saban retired Dabo Swinney would not be in his top five to replace him. I asked who he had in his top five and he said he did not hear him say. I do not care who that clown has on his list. My question is who would take the job after Saban? Dabo? No. Lincoln Riley? No Ryan Day No Mario Cristobal? No Jimbo Fisher No. What top tier coach do you say would follow Saban at Alabama?

in the 2019 CFP title game.

That loss is the largest loss Alabama has had with Saban as their head coach.

They could win 1 or 2 national championships over 4 years just based on talent even after Saban leaves.

They wouldn't be the machine they are without Saban.

Dabo is so different in his philosophy he wouldn't be a good fit for Bama.

Go back and read what Terry Bowden went through at Auburn because it's the same at Alabama and LSU and Tennessee and Georgia.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep, first thought is Bill O'Brien

Nov 8, 2021, 7:52 PM [ in reply to someone on his current staff at the time ]

He's had both college and NFL head coaching experience. His 2 years at Penn State were OK, but considering they were in the middle of the Sandusky mess, it was good that he did as well as he did. NFL ... well... I can't entirely blame him on how things turned south in Houston.

And he's the current 'Bama Rent-a-Coordinator at OC.

Not sure if they'd want to switch to an offensive-minded head coach after the Saban regime, but there isn't anyone else with name recognition or the resume. Doug Marrone is on staff as their OL coach, but not sure if that would be a flashy enough hire.

A coach that is highly motivated by $$$$$$$$$$$$$. Go in, take your lumps and retire to the Florida Keys.

Billy Napier, James Franklin, Mario Cristobal, Mark Stoops, Dave Clawson, Brent Venables, Matt Campbell, Mel Tucker, Brian Kelly, ....

But, other than Dabo, Riley, Day and Fisher is anybody really considered a "top tier coach"?

Only a fool would want that job! I am thinking with the Saban talent that is there you loose three games, can you even imagine the fits the Bama fans would be having with three losses?

I’ll do it for free………first thing I’d do is change the uniforms to orange & white…..then we’d start with reading tests. It would be a long process, but you wouldn’t recognize them when I was done. I’ve noticed there aren’t any female gymnasts on the Bama football team…I’d fix that too.

Answer: Any coach that wanted to make millions, retire....

Nov 9, 2021, 12:19 PM

...as quickly as possible and be done with work.

No one will replace Saban. The SEC has had 32 coaching replacements since the hire of Mark Richt......that's insane.

Any coach that goes to that conference (exception of Kirby and maybe Beamer) is SERIOUSLY just taking the massive pay and biding their time until they bow out to either retirement or a D2 program.

Well now things are beginning to get a little crazy. Beamer? Prime time? You guys are joking right?
Perfectly plain subtly? And it is not even 5:00 yet.

Most likely either Kirby or Jimbo

Nov 9, 2021, 12:59 PM

Kirby recruits so well at UGA I don't think going to Alabama helps him at all.

I doubt Jimbo will leave A&M for LSU but Alabama could have him if they wanted him.

Ryan Day will never (voluntarily) leave Ohio State. Not even for the NFL.

If Alabama strikes out on all of the above, Mario Cristobal might be their fallback option. He recruits like a madman but isn't a very good coach.

Mentioning Lincoln Riley as an option is just plain silly.

Dabo doesn't want to go to Alabama. IMO, he's made that very clear subtly on several occasions.
