We've been through it twice and think we got the wife and 1 yr old in it now.
Quite a few pneumonia cases popping up too

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)

Syncytial (the "s") means the virus causes the formation of syncytia in the lung cells, much like the bad flavors of covid do, or did. The Delta variant of covid was the deadliest because it promoted runaway syncytia where most other variants caused less. Syncytia is when a virus causes two or more cells to merge, and fuse into a massive cell with multiple nuclei, which leads to the eventual death of the cell(s). Some notable viruses that feature syncytia include herpes, HIV, RSV, and SARS-CoV2.
So yeah, RSV is one of the nastier respiratory viruses, and causes 300-800 deaths yearly in children and 5,000-15,000 deaths of older adults every year. Almost all children get RSV by age 2. And then most people don't get it until later in life when their immune systems weaken, and in the rare event they do get it again, it's a mild cold. Which is why it's so mysterious how 48yo healthy guys like myself are getting RSV now as a particularly nasty cold. Shingles (herpes) is another interesting example. Older adults over 50 are 15% more likely to develop shingles after a covid infection, and shingles is starting to show up in younger age groups today where in the past they were very rare.
I'm not going to say anything else. Let it remain mysterious.

everybody who has gotten it says it's severe head/chest congestion, headache, sore throat.
No nausea, intestinal issues or toilet stuff.
I've avoided it somehow.
