Why I don't care about recruiting anymore.....

......I hate to say it but I'm falling out of love with college football. Soon I'll quit watching like I did the NFL. I always hear ppl complain about what's going on in college football but they continue to watch every Saturday. I get it it's hard to walk away but until the fan realizes we have to show them true consequences for ruining our game by staying home and not watching nothing will change. My hand has been forced, I'm on the brink. All they have to do is enact some REAL rules while making sure the playing field is level. My fear is Dabo just walking away and if he does, I'm right behind him.

You are exactly right. Fans who can't stand what has happened to the sport really should stop watching games, or most of the games, other than Clemson. At least stop watching SEC games. It's the only way to send a message.

Heck, I went to bed in the 5th game of the World Series with the score tied 5-5. I watch less than 1 hour of NFL football a year during the regular season. I have no favorite NFL, NBA or MLB team. Just don't care.
I'm still watching NCAA football every Saturday, noon to midnight. I have two games on at all times (one on computer, one on TV) and switch to other games when the one I'm watching isn't a good game.
I'm still hopeful that the NCAA will get some sort of handle to this portal/NIL debacle we are living through now.
But, I'm not nearly as emotionally involved now as I was 10 years ago, much less 30 years ago.
And, I'm old. I don't want to give up the enjoyment I've had for 60+ years of watching college football. (My dad was a great fan. Loved watching games with him. Saturdays bring back fond memories of hundreds of Saturdays spent with him.)

Yeah, the things that made college football special (in-conf rivalries, in-state rivalries, etc.) are now largely gone, or soon will be. We're left with a free agent, watered-down version of the nfl, dominated by two super conferences, and shoved down our throats by esecpin. And it's not over yet. lol

I feel the same way and appreciate a great game no matter which team is playing, but will always be a Tiger!
Some people weren’t around during the Tommy Bowden Hatfield and Tommy West.

I'm with you, Bret. Stopped watching the NFL when they went woke. Haven't watched much baseball since all the players I knew in Houston retired. I wouldn't watch an NBA game if you paid me. In the past I worshipped the likes of Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kareem, MJ.......not any longer. Like you, in my youth I was so into sports I knew every player's stats in every sport. I was obsessed with sports. Today, Clemson is my only passion and that one is waning as the admins and powers-that-be keep pricing us out and pushing us away. They are making the alums and fans feel like we are just pawns in a big chess match and they take our support and our loyalty for granted. They better wake up to the warnings the fans are giving them. Our patience is growing thin. If you continue to destroy our sports, there are other things we can do with our time and money.

Exactly how I feel. Didn't watch one pitch of the World Series, but tomorrow I'll be dialed in on 2 TVs all day. I'm not about to stop watching my favorite sport because of some 18 year old's decision.

Dabo understands what he has to work with and he has 11.5M reasons annually to put up with it. He might get fed up at some point but he still seems to be having fun doing what he is doing, even with the distractions and frustrations of outside influences.

D am n! How good would we have been in the '80's and '90's if these rules were in place and Coach Ford and staff were not let go? Man what a run we would have had!

You are right about nfl only 32 teams let’s see how you feel in 5 years when Clemson football is not good. There are just to many college teams for them all to be good.

If the playing field doesn’t get leveled I will lose interest. A salary cap could make college football great. I guess the players have to be in a union for that to happen?

The new generation of football "FAN" is not as committed as the current fans from what I can tell all around the country watching games.
I've heard people say: "the sport is a popular as it's ever been" and can only shake my head as they fail to realize where the sport is headed. The Titanic was probably as smooth as it ever was right before hitting that iceberg too! Failure to see what's ahead is what so many people are missing. And, it starts with the fans. Many posters on here, I have noticed are older. The message board is a great way to talk about a bunch of stuff "we can't control, but discuss it nonetheless"! From High School to College though, a lot of would be and "used to be" fanatics are finding other things to occupy their time. And, that's going to eventually be a problem for the current model of CFB.
I am saddened to see the direction it's heading as I see it being harder for Clemson to compete(not impossible dang it - Marine Corps mentality we don't ever give in or give up).
But, making it so only those with the most money are relevant "can't be healthy" even for those schools if you think about it long term.
I will likely watch some games tomorrow, but I am just as likely to go outside and rake and blow leaves for my compost bin before Clemson plays. Getting there as well just like many others have said.
