I wish that every state in the union was pulling against us, and that we were 21 point underdogs. Yeah, like everyone else I saw "Rudy." Go, Notre Dame! We will never win the media/publicity game against ND, so our only hope is to win it on the field. I hope that our players see all of this, and are accordingly motivated. After all, we are only a cow college in humble South Carolina so who are we to challenge mighty Notre Dame, everyone's favorite??" I have never in my life wanted to win a game more that this one.

I can't believe TNET used this information in an article.
Putting Clemson aside, I saw tons of people from West Virginia outraged that anyone would claim they would pull for Notre Dame. I'm not sure what the issue is with West Virginia and Notre Dame but they seemed to feel very strongly about it.

Tiger0 I live in WV and alot ot people here hate ND. Alot stems from where ND beat WV in the Fiesta Bowl in 1988. They haven't forgot that. Other reason is ND is easy to dislike. I wear my Clemson stuff alot and people come up to me saying I hope you all beat ND.

Yep, they would rather have a selfish self centered school that only wants to take and give nothing back over a school like Clemson that has done nothing but made the ACC matter, with the ton of money they receive from our winnings that they get more of than we do bc of the money that it cost us to go and play in these games. Seem that ND is better suited for the selfishness in the ACC than we are!!! Say what ever about the SEC, but there fans do support their conference!!! Unlike the ACC!!!

I live in the heart of GA and it disgusts me how many Bama fans are here. Some are my friends (for other reasons), so this time of year i challenge their fanhood status, but they all apparently have truly been fans for years.
The sorry state of Alabama has fewer than 3 million souls--and they split them with Auburn--yet the Bama nation is at least 10 times that size.
Apparently every person who has ever lived there, vacationed there, had relatives from there or stopped at a truck stop there uses that as a connection to become a real Bama fan.
Maybe the SEC fans have some left over support for the segregation-sustaining Bear Bryant--you know, St Bear who along with his predecessors "won" all those "national" championships prior to 1969 while refusing to play against teams with black players.

When we were playing Alabama the first time for the national championship I had a LOT of people come up to me in the elevator and tell me they were pulling for us because...anyone but Alabama and I had a Clemson lanyard.
I told them then (and everyone thought I was joking) that I hoped they were all pulling against us five years from then and we're pretty much there. Bring on the hate! Your tears taste like sunshine and rainbows.

This isn't exactly scientific.
I detect a LOT of Bama fatigue in the Southeast. It's got to be worse elsewhere.
I can believe that Oklahoma and ND are faves, but I don't think the gap between them and Clemson is that big. Think more like the electoral college. You can win a lot of states and still squeak by in the electoral college.
