that OSU defensive player has his hands in Galloway's facemask.
Let's not mention the multiple holds that weren't called on OSU, the facemask/hands to face on Higgins when he was hurt, etc.

Based on that pic I think it’s obvious BG has not been skipping power hour sessions. What a specimen!

intimidate us to win just like Alabama did in several games.
They failed. They lost the game, and lost respect.
They got what the deserved.

Offensive holding is now like traveling in the NBA. They just aren’t going to call it because it happens on every play by every lineman it seems.

I have no issue with any OhSt fan who wants to complain about this call. We would be livid about it as well. It is a problem with how the rule is written that leaves too much gray area... I think if a player has both hands on the ball and a foot on the ground, it is a catch. So the rule needs updating... but thank heavens it wasnt updated before last night because that was rough. But I have no issue with their fans being mad at that one. The targeting one was targeting, I dont know how you try to complain about that one... top of his helmet hit Trevor ... easy, but the fumble-scoop-score, that was a tough one for sure.

Agree it was a close call, but that is not the definition of a catch. To complete the catch the player has to maintain control after he hits the ground (i.e. Dobbins non-catch) or make a football mover. Ross was coming back for the ball and he was in the process of stopping his momentum when his feet were on the ground. He had not yet made a football move.

I agree it was a tough call for OSU. But I also think Ross makes no attempt to turn up field. I think they could have whistled the play dead for forward motion being stopped.

Reminder to all OSU fans about this call

Just know that if that ball had gone out of bounds when the ball came out, the same criteria the refs used would have also made it an INCOMPLETE CATCH and all the OSU fans would have been cheering and Clemson fans would have been upset !! OSU fans would have been supporting the refs decision.

Absolutely correct about the fact that if the "fumbled" ball had gone out of bounds it would have been rued a "no catch" and OS would have agreed. Is this going to be the new "we were tired" story that bama used? No one takes personal responsibility today. YOU lost !!

Agreed, the officials shouldn’t have to answer to anyone! They are an independent 3rd party for a reason.
The one call that nobody is talking about is the reception that put OSU on the 5’ish yard line early in Q1. OSU#5 made a catch, but his foot was out of bounds. After review they interpreted that because his hand touched the ground first, he was in bounds. Since when was this the rule? If a player is fully in bounds and touches the ground with a hand, he’s not down...why would the touch of a hand (vs forearm/backside/back/one foot) result in an in am inbound ruling?
I went back and listened to Herbstriet (SP?) this morning. Even he was like, really only a hand.
Play only resulted in 3 points eventually, but was an odd call in my opinion.
What a back and forth game. Neither team has lost much in the past year. It was going to be a sour taste in anyone’s mouth no matter what. I was glad to see Clemson Fans for the most part at the game be good sports and gracious winners. The boys fought hard!!!
I was a little frustrated with the behavior that I saw around town by our young fans and alumni. Act like you have been there people! Be nice, smile, and be the face of your school/program.
OSU fans in our section of the Stadium were terrible. The constant use of foul language (I curse some too, but not constantly) and use of racial slurs was terrible. One of the worst crowds I have ever been in the middle of at a game.
BEAT LSU!!!!

Foul language in the stands is awful now a days, with constant use of the F word. What was the racial stuff ? use of N word? was it used to call their players , our players, or other people in the stands ? OSU fans are the most condescending of all fans I have ever been around .

Yes, I agree. Most people are conveniently forgetting this review that went OSU's way. Set them up nicely. But they could not get it into the end zone. Great defense by the Tigers.
There are multiple reasons OSU could have won the game. 16-0 lead. Chase Nice To Be Young. Justin Strawberry Fields. Brian May Day. Big10 (counting past 10 must be some sort of advanced grad course). Blah, blah, blah.
Also, our guys were falling like flies. We should have been debilitated physically and emotionally, especially with Trevor on the ground. At times Fields had plenty of time to throw. We looked dead for the first 20 minutes. Potter missed another field goal. We dropped a pick six. Tee missed almost half the game. We had to start our final drive with less than 4 minutes to go from our 6 yard line! And we went through their D like the proverbial hot knife through butter.
So, when they weren't given every other imaginable gift, what do they resort to? Whining and crying. Even their dumbash AD got in on the crybaby act. Well, now they'll have the next eight months to suck on their pacifiers.

You're right - there's not a referee press conference; there is one predetermined reporter who is officially escorted/given access and reports back to (all) press on responses from the refs. This is what's done for NFL, so there is surely some very similar procedure for college.
Following the rules...people and many ex-players don't like the targeting call, but it is on the books that way. People complaining that refs' shouldn't make calls that affect the outcome of important games...but this is what refs do, right?

ESPN talking heads spinning the hit on Lawrence as "controversial". What a joke! And the fumble overturn looked like the correct call when you look at the play at full speed. Ohio state lost because they blew a big lead and were stopped repeatedly in the red zone early in the game.

I truly don't know why the questionable calls surprised anyone. The SUC has the worst refs in college football. And that's a shame. I hate hate official's calls being reviewed because it seriously affects the flow of the game. But thank goodness for the replay booth last night. The refs on the field were not going to make the difficult calls. The field refs were a miserable failure. Go Clemson Tigers!!! Beat LSU. 38-31 good guys.

I don't officiate football, but I have others sports...coached as well.
Replay has become a crutch in that Officials are instructed to make the call that "continues the play" since a review can always come back and take it away...can't review and then say it was a touchdown because the whistle would've stopped the play already.
In my opinion the Line Judge wouldn't have ruled it a catch in the first place without Instant Replay.

This is a great point. Had they just blown the whistle incomplete right away and/or none of the scoop & run stuff happened afterward no one would be saying anything. The context around the play and refs letting the play go on so they can review it later (and for better and worse this is what they’re instructed to do) made the reversed call worse than it was in reality.

... letting a play go and then correcting it is probably wise, but it leads to much more controversy.
“Taking back” points is always going to make someone mad.
