Eagles can store up to two pounds of food in their "crop" which is an expandable pouch that is part of the esophagus. This is how they can continue to eat for days when food isn't readily available. No matter how miserable it looks, Jackie and Shadow are more than equipped to handle it.

Thank you for posting. I have been too sick to keep up this week. This is what nest looked like last year during one blizzard. Jackie is under that blanket of snow completely covering her and nest. Unbelievable.
