Much is said and written about NIL and the demise of CFB. The players are being
blamed for the demise and fans want a return to the "good old days" of yesterday.

Players did not ruin CFB. GREEDY adults ruined it and continue to do so. Coaches in the top programs were being paid more than any other University employee, including the College President. They were also the highest paid State Government employee for State supported schools. Coaches and Universities were not honoring contracts, and Coaches were leaving for higher paying gigs or were terminated and paid millions to leave.

College athletic departments were making hundreds of millions on FB revenue which was/is footing the bill for all other sports programs.

Media companies and personnel were/are making billions. All of this billions of dollars were being created by teens and young adults barely out of their teens. Many of these young men/teens come from a economically poor background and 90% plus will never play professional FB.

These young men/teens were not allowed to even have a free McDonalds hamburger happy meal given to them by anyone connected to the University. A coach or team employee could not even let them ride in their car to go home even if the coach was going right past their house.

The NCAA and all those adults associated with CFB is what killed it.

The players were like employees at a multi- billion dollar company being paid in college credits for their work and could not be given a free meal at the local greasy spoon by any manager or supervisor.

Sooner or later, this greed at the expense of young people was bound to come to an end. And, I for one am happy that it has begun to turn. Coaches and fans pointing fingers at the athletes who produce the billions and blaming them for wanting a small piece of the pie is comical. Coaches making 10 million a year complaining about NIL and players being paid and changing teams is hypocritical.

How could those smarter than teens running this enterprise could not see this coming? I guess it was the same people who signed a 30 year GOR contract that had no look in clause so as to keep up with changing economic conditions.

Want to blame someone or something for the current and future state of CFB, blame all those adults who were enjoying the fruits of the product the student athletes were producing. And that includes the stupid NCAA.

At least a few coaches who were ignored knew that the athletes should have been sharing in the loot, even though it was a pittance.

So, IMHO, the adults in the room need to step forward and fix what they should have fixed long ago. Maybe Tony Elliott and the UVA AD have stepped up to the plate and got the Va. Legislature to pass a bill allowing schools in VA. To pay NIL directly to players with no NCAA interference. Each University athletic dept. should budget an amount for NIL payments, just as they budget personnel salaries. Also, Alumni associations can contribute money as well.

Rant over.

You Got a friend in me. I have been saying the same thing for a long time. How do we expect the teenagers and people in early twenties not to be greedy when the adults are being just as greedy if not more. AD spend money like a teenage girl on first shopping spree with a credit card

TV money paid to conferences & universities will absolutely be used for NIL

payments to "student-athletes". Agreed. This has been coming for awhile. And when it happens the top SEC-B1G programs will separate further and shoot to the moon. Those "stay-in-the-ACC" fans will see SEC/B1G footballers averaging double and triple the "NIL salaries" of other conferences, and the ACC will be on a lower plateau.

And your message that the "adults in the room" like Swofford who greedily denied student-athletes simple, low-dollar, and on-the-record goodies for years, like a free breakfast from boosters, is dead-on. The stupid policies have led to the current jail-break of court-facilitated madness.

Where is this demise of CFB we keep reading about? Clemson and UGA will open the season on August 31 to a sold out stadium and a massive tv audience. Fans will engage in spirited trash-talk and root like crazy for their teams. Win or lose you'll be a Clemson fan and I'll be a Dawg. You'll root for your guys all season long, no matter how well or poorly things are going. How much will it really matter to you that some guys on both teams are being paid?

CFB to me is entertainment. I will continue to watch as long as I am entertained. NBA basketball ceased to be entertaining when they quit playing defense, hence I no longer watch. Each to his own…

Another in a long line of posts about something that has not happened. Why does nobody give examples of how football is ruined? The answer is football is just fine and I challenge all of you NIL/Portal haters to watch any game from 4 or 5 years and then watch a game last year and post reasons of what has changed. You cannot do it because football is the same great game it has been. Yes players transfer and players can earn money but that does ruin the game. Just enjoy the sport and accept the rights of the athletes and go with the flow.

obviously driven by a perspective seeded in misinformation derived from popular yet predominantly fabricated mainstream narratives. Blaming coaching salaries is absurd but a popular parrot. Vaguely acknowledging the fact that football programs at a minimum collectively sustain collegiate athletics while insinuating after all the "hangers on" get their cut and all the bills are paid that your typical Top 20 football program is still netting a surplus of 100 mil annually is pretty funny. Little mention of the agenda driven puppet masters of: the empower the player movement, NIL/TP-
