Coastal and Cincy are good stories this year, but let's face

reality. If either of them was to run into either us or Bama, they would get blown out of the stadium. Far from expanding the playoffs to 8 teams, there are barely FOUR teams this year who are deserving.
You could say that the only one loss team with a legitimate shot is A&M, and they don't really impress you when you watch them. Assuming we take care of our own business, the four really should be:
Bama Clemson Ohio State Notre Dame
In that order, because that is what the CFP Committee will do to keep from having an immediate rematch between us and the Dolden Gomers.

Yeah - when it was decided most Power5 teams wouldn't

play each other outside of conference - it would have made sense then to expand it, at least for this year...

It would have been a good opportunity to experiment with it - but there was no telling how the season would work out. It could have been a real disaster.

From a business standpoint it is warranted every year. You want the nation more involved.

If the PAC has to sit out there on the left coast and sulk every year, who cares.

The truth of the matter is there are really only 4 elite teams this year. And that's true w/o a doubt.
Everyone knows who they are, yet no others truly measure up.
I love it when SEC fans like to say "Clemson doesn't play anyone". I always respond by saying that there are only really a few elite teams and Clemson is one of them. Really, no one in the SEC wants to play us other than Bama. That usually shuts them up.

ugly head. No way we need another round, especially since there aren't more than 4 legitimate teams. You have 5 conference champs to chose from. Everyone else already eliminated as not even best in conference. Clemson and Bamu are 2, assuming they win Saturday. Who else you want from the other 3 conferences? Media loves ocryo. If USC wins, them or a 2-loss big whatever champ?

Stick with 4. Perfect this year. Coastal and Cincinnati, really? All you are trying to determine is #1. Who cares about 2 thru 8? Coastal, USC, Cincinnati and Texas A&M are not #1... A&M already lost to Alabama. Ohio State, Clemson and ND have something to prove, they all have to beat Alabama! This is not basketball.

Honestly this year I think 2 teams would likely do it.

Assuming Bama wins the SECCG. I think it's pretty clear that the best 2 teams will be Bama and the ND/Clemson winner.
Of course, I'm cool with more football to watch, but this isn't the year where there's a bunch of really good teams, but rather a bunch of teams that we don't really know how good they are.

I am thinking 8-1 Texas A&M should go in ahead of 6-0 OSU.
