Your typical response when you want to shadow the facts. If you are truthful, you know the best of the Venezuelans or those from any other country have not been crossing the border. Just tell me what the illegals bring to this country that makes you so pro-migrant? Why should any of us be paying to subsidize their existence in the U.S. when we have had hungry and homeless here for generations? Are there any American born citizens that could use the payouts being offered the migrants?

Follow the existing laws for allowing migrants into the country and I have no problems. Allow them to come here in hordes without the proper process, turn them loose and expecting them to show up for a court date to be vetted (btw, how's that working out) and you're dayum right, I don't like it.

Why do you think employers should pay them the higher minimum wages when they can't pay the higher minimum wages to their current employees? Because it's an arbitrary amount set by state legislatures where the members don't have to worry about minimum wage salaries? Does inflation not affect the business costs employing these workers or did inflation go away and everything turn all rosy because the stock market is up? How about the business bottom line or does it not matter? Why are the minimum wages going up, is it because prices are going up (inflation) or could it be a way to get more income taxes to support government programs and/or some combination? That only works until the businesses start laying off workers and eventually shut their doors for good.

Eventually, the piper will have to be paid.

So, where to begin...

"The best Venezuelans"? Who are those? In typical fashion, you're susceptible to the rightwing narrative that Trump coined nearly 8 years ago regarding Mexico, "they aren't sending us their best, they're sending rapists and drug dealers...and some, I'm sure, decent people". Read a story about an illegal Venezuelan doing something shady or even down right awful and criminal, extrapolate to all Venezuelans. Computes for brain, no further analysis needed.

If you want to see ACTUAL inflation, completely shut off the supply of immigrant labor, legal/illegal/otherwise. It's not a matter of "Americans are or aren't willing to do the work that immigrants do". It's "even if every available American suddenly unfucked themselves and became unlazy, there still wouldn't be enough to fill the void left by immigrant workers". This has been harped on repeatedly here, and both sides of the political spectrum are aware of this, at least the ones in positions to make decisions. That's why you don't see anything radically changing in the model. Do I think it's a great system? Absolutely not. Do I acknowledge that it's keeping our economy as we know it afloat and moving? Yeah...even if you don't.

And please...don't pretend like you care about poor Americans anymore than you care about poor migrants. We both know that's bullshit. You're not OK with your tax dollars going to help the helpless. Own it. You're not alone, at least half the country feels the same way.

I didn't say employers should pay illegal immigrants any particular wage, minimum, or higher or lower. They're getting paid under the table. Pay them above the table with taxes and withholdings, and you'll see costs and inflation rise accordingly. If you think your food prices are high now, you'll certainly enjoy the ACTUAL costs of producing what you put on the table, and this isn't a Biden/Trump Democrat/Republican policy problem. It's the reality of how food production in particular is priced.

I definitely don't agree with putting illegal immigrants up in hotels and giving them debit cards (to the extent that this is true and not fearmongering that makes it sound like 20M illegals are getting thousands of dollars and cellphones every week to sit in the 4 star hotel rooms and watch PPV movies). Enough people have a problem with this concept that it will be addressed, but you also need to recognize that much or most of this is happening at the state and local levels, and not under WH direction.

But, whatever. You're not going to look at this in any other view beyond what you currently hold, so...cool. I got to waste a bunch of time typing this. Kick back some more, you know...like all the illegal immigrants you despise are most definitely doing in posh hotel rooms across the country.
