XT is 6-2 or so. He cannot carry 270 on his frame. His quickness and strength is key. He can play DE at 243 as long as he uses his strengths and is disciplined.

Hope he stays healthy and earns the praise, and money, he deserves.

I personally like him lighter. Remember his freshman year when he’d fly off the edge and lay the QB out! His quickness will be his advantage

I bet Vic Beasley didn't weigh that much and he was a beast.

Per his Twitter (X?) a couple days ago

He's down to 10% body fat. He stated in 2022 he was a career 16.5% body fat and had dropped it to 15% last year.

No, I Never Started at DE for a Top 10 Team— But, I’ve forgotten more about Football in the last 5 Minutes than your DUMB A$$ will ever know!

243 is perfect for his explosiveness and quickness. You must’ve never seen Vic Beasley play.

I think he will be used situationally as a pass rusher with woods and others playing alot of the more likely rushing downs.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Just Fine of a weight for Him. Here is why.

Virtually nobody in college football is looking to just line up and pound you with a bunch of 300+ lb OL all game long. With that said, the way the passing prowess has grown and will grow; you need lighter kids who can use their quickness to affect the QB.

I would agree with you if we were having to go through Tom Osborne and that Nebraska I. Or The one Ohio State coach I thought was okay(Tressell I think his name was). Where they are going to pound you. Then play action pass you to where WR's are getting wide open.
But, in the modern era, no problem with that weight.

Keep in mind too though - on running downs - if the OL can't get their hands on XT they can't block him. I've seen many times where a holding penalty is called on running plays when a bigger OL is trying to block a lighter/quicker player they have foot-speed trouble with. And, the dude is stronger than his weight(if that makes sense).

XT is NFL LB size particularly if 6'1"

1

Aug 3, 2023, 9:01 PM

He appears to be in tremendous shape, and if he performs and stays healthy, the NFL should like him as a 3-4 OLB with his burst. Pulling for him to have a big year.

Clowney is 6'6 and weighed 281 after having played DE all his career. And, the NFL during his 1st few seasons had him at an OLB position if you recall in Houston.

XT will be fine at LB as he has the speed to do it. Likely, doesn't have any bad habits to break either. And, will get more patience early on as he learns the position. Von Miller was more DE than LB to me; and he has had a very nice career.

XT will be okay. Just needs to stay healthy and put some good video together this season.

DE DUMB A$$. Never said XT would not be effective this year. If Healthy, I believe he will have a Great Year.

Aug 3, 2023, 9:50 PM

It's a little light for an NFL DE. He was explosive and exceptionally quick in limited time as a true freshman; probably influenced his decision to get to 243 lbs. The ability to pressure opposing QB's consistently with 4 is a luxury we haven't had in a while, few teams do. He's our best shot at achieving this. If not, we'll likely be forced to regularly manufacture pass pressure through exotic blitz packages and stunts—

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Will he even play? I don’t remember him doing anything since

Nolan Smith played very well at Georgia at about 6'2" and 240. If losing some weight keeps him healthy then it's the right move.
