Clemson baseball really looks resurged

It’s just a constant string of hits and runs. It won’t stop. I haven’t seen this good of hitting since even before Leggett left.
These are all new guys mostly except for about 4 of them I’m pretty sure. And they all look like .300 hitters.
And the pitching is finally coming together. You can tell we’ve got a really solid staff.
Really could be a 50-win season

Like my coach told me, you can’t win the game in the first 4 innings, but you can lose it. So true. Baseball is a marathon, but Clemson has some really good players.

We haven't played anyone yet. Let's pump the brakes a little. Sure, there are a lot of reasons to be optimistic and things look pretty good two games in..... But waaaaay too early to declare us Omaha-bound.

I disagree , this Xavier team is very good and will likely be in a regional… yes it’s the first weekend but a much better opponent than most of the top tier teams are playing and we are taking care of business relatively easily … and yesterday we should have scored a min of 4-5 more runs. I think there will be changes and someone we haven’t seen will get hot and produce like always but when this lineup is set I think this is going to be a very exciting team if the staff holds up. We saw enough lads year in the complete change of culture in year 1 and how hard and fundamentally sound his teams are going to be to be excited about this team.

Look, I'm excited too. But dang....it's a little early to say because we beat Xavier, we're Omaha-bound. Can't we just be cautiously optimistic and applaud Bakich for the job he's doing? Let's wait until we play the coots and then see.

Oh no I agree I’m not yelling Omaha or anything it’s way too early for that I agree… I’m just saying I think it’s clear this team is going to be exciting and I expect to host a regional. Of all the sports (maybe bc I played) I think it’s the hardest to predict baseball unless you have an unbelievable staff to rely on. Baseball is a game where you will lose to someone you aren’t supposed to it’s just part of the game. And to be honest I don’t even put much stock into even the scar series with it being so early… we were completely diff a few weeks after that series.. Amick wasn’t even a full time starter I don’t believe. Iv just been pleasantly surprised at the pop in the lineup and we beat a pitcher yesterday that gave up one run at vandy and beat them…and usually at this point pitching is ahead of hitting and we hit it pretty well. We need to be better with runners in scoring position but it’ll come.

This didn’t have anything to do with optimism or biases or anything based on a Clemson fan’s perspective.
As a baseball fan who has followed Clemson baseball and the sport all my life, I’m saying this is what I’ve predicted.
Clemson was absolutely the best hitting team in the country in the last half of last season. And it looks like it’s continuing.
From a Clemson fan perspective, I agree. I’m not going to get on here cheering for Omaha, but I just think it will happen.

This is true but you can’t disrespect Xavier like that they knocked out Vandy last year with most of those players returning. It’s very easy to say pump the breaks but acknowledge how the guys have started

Xavier won the 2023 Big East championship and was the 3rd seed in the Nashville regional.

Agree with some of that but outside of walks, I saw a lefty throwing hard yesterday minimizing our lineup. Walks do count though so credit to the hitters for being disciplined but let’s wait until we see a pitcher with electric stuff and better control to see what we really have

Xavier really is a capable team. Like someone else said, they won the Vanderbilt regional last year.
To hit the way we did for the first 3 games and to get a sweep, I don’t think there’s been anything to digress my point.
It’s also the first series of the season. I think things are continuing from last year, and the hitting has been nothing but the same.
Also, I don’t think Knaak will be the Sunday starter. Bakich before the series mentioned he wasn’t going to throw the table at Xavier pitching wise. Gorden must be a starter, I don’t know why he wouldn’t after last year. I like Tristan Smith too. And of course Barlow looked good Friday.
I certainly think we’ve got a top-4 team in the country again.

Slow your roll, Jelly. It's only the first two games of a long season, against

the Xavier Musket Ears. Yes, our offense looked good. But, time will tell if Xavier had any pitching at all, or if we really are that good. I will say it is a promising start.

Xavier isn’t great but they did make the tournament last year. Their starter from Friday beat Vandy in a regional game last season. They aren’t complete scrubs.

Always great to see lively bats right out of the gates like this. Sign of excellent preparation. A little early on what we truly have for the course of a season but beginning rust doesn't seem to be an issue for us.

I really think we do.
I honestly think coots are trending down and Clemson is trending up.
Won’t be a walk in the park, but I think we win all 3.

One thing to remember about Xavier is that being a northern team, they haven’t had as much opportunity to work outside preseason. The costly mistakes in the field showed that. I think that also hampers their pitchers getting better live scrimmages. Xavier may be a good team, but we likely didn’t see their best in the first series of their season.

I love the aggressive patience. I call it that because the first good pitch they get to hit they are attacking it. If it's not a good pitch to hit they let it go until they get one they can handle. If they walk then next man up. Love this approach.
