WW!!! and the Draft

Most men/boys have no idea how even the "possibility" of being sent to a battle field where folks are being blown apart changes your life. People safe at home are OK with sending "others" to fight.
Men who are draft eligible have many thoughts as to it all.

Draft is again top shelf in Ukraine/Russia/Israel and some others. Planes and ships are great war weapons, but men are needed if just for cannon fodder. Soldiers win wars.

In the last USA draft, not men, but kids were drafted. In the 60's few 18 year old kids were competent to defend the USA, but those were the "men" drafted. They stepped up to the task as that too was a "great generation".

I can't get my head around "my teenage Kid" being sent to war. No parent can.

War aint nice. To defend the homeland many must give all.

Absolutely, we all need to pray & fast for our kids that they won’t have to go to war to satisfy the greed and evil of the war machine.

We need a leader that is strong but uses that to avoid starting or getting our troops in wars to drive the pockets 💰 of so many while our children go over to face being killed or injured.

We can be peacemakers!

The USA is now (by far) the most powerful war machine ever seen.

Using and "improving" that stick is what protects us all.

There are no wars going on at the moment that would require US troops to be deployed for the purposes of defending the homeland....it would be to put young men in harms way to continue money laundering operations and making politicians who have stock in Raytheon and Lockheed martin rich.

I am 39 years old and I'll tell you now, there is no way in hell I will go to Eastern Europe or the middle east to fight for the type of administration that is currently leading this country. If war is to come to homeland, we got the the 2nd amendment to defend ourselves on home turf

Excellent post.

All turmoil in the world minor or major must be addressed by the USA.

US Troops today are the best in the world. They volunteered knowing they would in harm's way. They are capable.

All wars are political. We should hang politicians or put them on the front line to stop war, but we voted for those folks. We chose them.

You are 39 and have no clue as to a draft or how it affects one's life. You said -- "there is no way in hell".
That is naive.

There is no choice for any in a draft. You can "safely" bluster brave as to it, but that is not reality. No matter as guys your age are never drafted even though those would be the prime soldiers.

2nd amendment might help you from your neighbor but not so much in a war.

Any draft of today's youth will surly guarantee a loss.

BBO things are bad as American leadership is lacking.
There is no JFK to tell the world if they put missiles to attack America in Cuba, the USA will respond.

Hmmmm ...and all this time I thought JFK made a deal with Krushchev to take our old missiles out of Turkey in exchange for Russian missiles out of Cuba. And it was to be kept quiet at the time. Diplomacy at it's best. Thank Gawd JFK and RFK were in office. I was a very skeered 14 year old.

Maybe, never read that.
I am sure no nukes left Turkey to this day.
My next assignment (had I accepted) was to command a Nuke site in Turkey.

He's right. Kennedy had a secret telephone line set up to communicate with Khrushchev. Oddly enough they had tremendous respect for each other. Khrushchev's son even said his dad dropped to his knees and bawled when he found out Kennedy had been assassinated. Probably one of the reasons Kennedy was assassinated.

My favorite George Orwell quote!
"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf".

I had a poster of this quote in my room in Viet Nam

strong men make good times
good times make soft men
soft men make hard times ...

or so the saying goes.

I don't believe that little axiom can be applied across entire generations and nations, because we know there's nothing new under the Sun; all generations see good days, hard days, have good folk, lousy folk, lazy folk.

I didn't have to go downrange and am thankful I didn't. I just kinda keep my mouth shut around those who have had to go downrange because what the h*ell do I know about it.

Took me till the last few years to realize the purpose of wars isn’t to win them. It’s to be in a constant state of war. There’s an Orwell quote that summarizes it way better. Whatever year we ceased trying to win them and transitioned to constant state of is the year we lost the republic. Hoping no one has to get drafted to fight for politicians money laundering home bases but could happen.
