Friend had one seize up back in college. Left it in the pit for over a year until it was eventually towed off.
Good times in 1980.

Aluminum block...cast iron head.
I'm not sure why anyone would make that. GM should have put the small v8 (305) in them from the factory.

mechanic work in my Dad's shop. Got a call to go over to their house because the Vega would not start. It would turn over, but not start.
When I checked the oil, there was none. Added nearly four quarts to get it back up to the mark, hit the key, and BANG, it started and ran normally. Luckily for her, one of the few things Chebby did right on that car was a low oil pressure interlock switch that killed the spark to the ignition.

door were actually different sizes. Just weird all the way through. It could always say it wasn't as ugly as its little brother, the Gremlin, though.

And they had some pretty interesting features for camping in them that would get pretty popular 15-20 years later.
Kinda like the AMC 4WD cars (AMC Eagle). They were 25 years ahead of themselves.

AMC was struggling with that one.

AMC engineers had some really cool ideas, but had horrible styling. I watched a documentary about AMC a few months ago and how they were always so strapped for cash and everything was done on a tight budget. That's why they were always a conglomeration of Ford an GM parts. They were just one "right" car away from making it.
Then they finally did make it (the Jeep Cherokee and 1st gen Grand Cherokee) and Chrysler bought them.
