I like it. I saw that too. Takes away the wild west flavor that it has now.

Ive agreed with this all along. We should call it the NCAA.

Then we should have divisions broken up by geography. Let’s say ne to mw and call it BIG. One down eastern seaboard and call it ACC. One in the southeast. One in the south to south west and one on the pacific coast. Each should be free to negotiate their own tv contracts.

Not sure about this. Prior to NCAA vs. OU Board of Regents, NCAA negotiated TV contracts and appearances. SCOTUS found this violated Sherman and Clayton Antitrust Act. It led to colleges and conferences negotiating their own TV deals and the huge increase in TV revenues for conferences and colleges. However, players were never considered more than student athletes=amateurs. That is gone now. The structure will have to change, but may require changes in law by Congress related to labor and anti trust.

The issue is equity, money etc. I personally don’t care if Arizona state, Washington st, Oregon st, etc ever play football again. What I do know is there is big money in college football in the southeast and in schools with history such as usc, Ohio state etc. nobody with money is going to want to give up money to allow irrelevant teams to continue. And the advertisers are going to go where the most viewers are. I’ll admit to not watching Oregon state play Washington state for many years now.
And the NCAA was/is so weak that I wonder if any one body would be any stronger.

One of those “irrelevant” schools.
Prior to Dabo, both Washington State and Oregon State had more recent success - like Rose Bowl type success - than Clemson.
A certain bit of irony too, Washington State and Oregon State have way more in common with Clemson than almostt all those more “relevant” programs out there (OSU, Michigan, Bama, etc).
Important to realize that the world does not revolve around Clemson…there a lot of schools - with strong fan support out there.
Oregon State had higher TV viewership than we did this season…

Chip Kelly is going in the right direction. He doesn’t realize it, but a fully baked version of what he is suggesting is an NFL model.
We need one single league to be the franchisor. Each university is a franchisee/licensee.
The franchisor sets rules and parameters surrounding labor, compensation, eligibility, tampering, transfers, sign stealing, marijuana, performance enhancing drugs, gambling and the woo hoo. Eliminate NIL. Stop kidding ourselves and just pay the players.
It’s not hard to set up a format of divisions, conferences, etc. and playoff selection is 100% objective and not subjective like right now. Win your division and move on. Eat what you kill.
Nobody likes labor unions, but the league and the teams would love to have a single entity with which to negotiate for benefits and the structure of compensation, not necessarily the amount of compensation, but the parameters surrounding compensation. Right now it’s chaos with kids and boosters signing contracts they don’t understand. In the current system boosters are making commitments to pay and then not fulfilling those commitments. See FL gators.
The revenues from this kind of model will be astounding.

It is about the only way you can do this at this point. Contracts and tampering rules etc. like the 64 ish vs the group of 5 separation. As I am not sure some of the schools could make it work financially in some cases. Note: if Clemson ended up in the lower division (will not happen) I would be ok with that.
It has been long overdue to level the playing field of CFB. With CAPS etc. we could really see a more competitive CFB top to bottom. The thing I struggle with is marking sure these kids leave with an education. Who knows what some gained from high school and this level of learning as they mature can really help with their future success.

yep, take it one step further...... no class required and totally sponsored by the NFL. We have a draft selection process, so no recruiting has to occur. Then, that'll totally free up my fall Saturdays.

Time for the NFL to have some skin in the game. If "college' football is dying and becoming Saturday Pro Ball, stop lying and calling it college and have it set up as a minor league system.
