He shouldn't schedule Oklahoma then because their band goes until the QB gets under center. The funny thing is his team was in the game before he got his way, after he got his way Clemson destroyed Wake. So I ask you Dave, did it really make things better?

I feel out of respect if there is a rule the band should abide by it. Now how loud can they get who knows to be at that level. I believe he was more frustrAted and looking for something to vent about. How about the band play a lullaby song and put them to sleep. Oh heck let him complain he got whooped.

I live in Clemmons and the worst paper every WSJ is always writing about how ole Dave is getting done wrong ad about his whining about it. He’s a good coach with what he has but whining never helps losing.
Dave please don’t act like the other Dave who cries more than you at NCS!??????

I never was sure what he was complaining about. The band shouldn't play while they are calling plays. But I think the Clemson fans were probably bothering him the most and they should be loud when Wake was calling plays.

I was in my high school marching band at Ninety Six high school for 6 years and I am now a junior at Charleston Southern University and have been in the marching band every year. It is actually a rule where the band is not supposed to play while the ball is snapped. Any team can get penalized for this if they do play. It's really no different than Dabo arguing a holding call, or a pass interference call. However, I am very positive we can play as much as we want before the ball is snapped. If they were playing while the ball was snapped then it shouldn't matter if they were getting recked or not. A penalty is a penalty.

I do not think the pep band did anything differently than usual. The short between downs songs like Rage Defense were being played but because of the fast pace the Deacon offense sometimes the band was playing at the snap. They were not playing throughout the play.
It is ironic that the videos of the Wake players waving their arms with the motorcycle noise played right up to the snap or after as well. Just a matter of perspective.

Yeah, I was going to mention that the speed at which they were snapping the ball is what caught the band out of sync. If it had been the normal 20-30sec between plays then it would not have bothered Clawson. It must have bothered our Def since they were keeping the game relatively close for first 15min.

That was hilarious, I need to find a video to see it again. I think the QB was even trying to quiet us. What's also funny is a lot of the noise was also coming from Wake Forest fans. I was sitting in the home section and they were on our side of the field driving towards the endzone. Next thing you know Wake Forest fans are standing up screaming with the Clemson fans. Couldn't help but laugh.

Unless something has changed then Clawson is wrong. You can absolutely play right up until the ball is snapped. You can then begin to play as soon as the whistle blows. He is going to be really upset with FSU because they employ this tactic all the time and have a much louder band than TigerBand. TigerBand doesn't really play nearly as much as other bands do. Teams are given no special right to have silence to call plays.
I remember in 2004 we went to FSU and there was an issue with our band. They put us right on the front row of Doak Campbell but we wear also along the 10 yard line or so. Our Drum Majors podium was actually on the grass behind the benches. The refs at that game did come and stop our Drum Majors from using their whistles because it was affecting the game.

pretty close together. You can't put the band in seats further away. Wake's stadium is always embarrassing looking on tv.
Wake is the one school I would love to see leave the ACC. We don't need four teams from one state. We could lose them and lose absolutely nothing. They aren't even competitive in basketball like they should be. If they were to leave, we could add another state to the footprint and gain more viewers. I'd love to see West Virginia

I have the same issue at Death Valley with how often the too loud and too often rap music is played. This year I went to Texas A&M, Tech and Wake and did not hear that music at any of their stadiums.

I'm kinda disappointed after reading the article. I thought it was going to be a revelation and Clawson was going to inform the college football world that members of the Clemson band scored the last 2 TDs. Although that may have been disappointing too. I believe the band could have at least scored 3 TDs against WF.
