Billy Amick question

I don’t know the whole story but what was the reasoning for leaving ? I thought I read it was bc he wanted to play third , well he doesn’t for tenn either and it couldn’t have been bc we took him out late in that game surely… sucks seeing him hit bombs when that could have been huge for us in the dh spot.

Got pissed he got subbed off last year vs Tennessee and wanted to play 3B. We didn’t miss him.

We def could have used his bat lol dude is smashing at tenn and would have added another 20+ home runs to our lineup … I sometimes think it was money but thought I read it was bc he didn’t get a fair shot to play third , which to me he did just wasn’t that great … then tenn he started at third and was an error machine and back to dh , kid can destroy a baseball just wish he would have stayed if he was gonna end up a dh somewhere else lol

Well he’s hit like 24 home runs and 60+ RBIs also … I don’t think nawrocki or Jarrell came close to that… I don’t want a kid on the team that didn’t wanna be here I’m just saying he could have helped us big time.

Don’t miss him as much as I thought we would. Scoring runs was not the issue this year, pitching was. If he wants to play for Tennessee then good riddance and good luck!

He probably will be in the portal again. In his mind he is a golden glove 3rd baseman, when in reality his fielding is sub sandlot. He could have remained with us and been a yellofa dh. In order to understand a Amick you need to know a Amick.

He didn’t really lose his job at 3B. He’s started 58 games at third and another 9 at DH. His fielding percentage is in like the .920 range, so he’s much closer to a liability on defense than a gold glover, but his bat makes up for it at this level. He will probably be drafted pretty high and some MLB team is going to most likely stick him in LF or something, which I’m sure he will be thrilled about.

Could’ve really used his bat. But I hope his current team loses as often as possible wherever he plays.

His family does not need the money. His grandfather was a huge supporter of Clemson and was the head honcho of the BOT. HE CONTRIBUTED Millions to Clemson. His grandson should have been treated better. Billy Amick was and is a hitting machine. It was not like he was asking for something he was not more than qualified to do. His bat may have propelled us to OMAHA.
I'm glad he transferred and is doing well and hope Tenn. Now wins it all.

In case you didn't know "Chick" Amick levied his position on the PSC. Every utility in SC succored to him. Most of his farm buildings were built with items given to him by utilities for favorable votes before the commission. Today it's called pay for play.

When you say his Grandson should have been treated better - what do you mean?

Given a position he didn’t deserve? Outstanding bat - but what about fielding? What is his current position in the field at Tenn?

He was asking to play 3B. Which is something he is “not more than qualified to do”…your words.

Probably money. Friend’s son was offered $150k per year to play baseball at LSU, ACC schools offering $6k.

Not really going to compete with those numbers. A few SEC schools have that kind of money but I'd guess that. There's like 300 D1 college baseball teams and I'd venture to guess that at least 250 of them operate in the negatives and very few make any significant profit at all. If you had an extra $150k sitting around 95% of Clemson sports fans are going to demand it go to a star linebacker or WR on the football team over a baseball player.

All the reasons already mentioned, plus he didn't like Bakich as a coach and his style of managing. This kid comes from money and clearly has not heard the word "No" very much in his life.
